So, this Call Of Duty game looks like something… familiar… Hmm. Nope, I can’t place it. Maybe you can? Whatever the likeness, it seems that some stuff may explode, while certain dudes may, in fact, get shot.

0:10-0:14. Why is Bruce Willis in the game?
19/05/2010 at 18:53 WiPa says:
I thought the same thing!
19/05/2010 at 09:36 JuJuCam says:
It appears to be a simulation of running around and shooting people and things, played from the perspective of the gunman… I’ve never seen anything like it!
19/05/2010 at 09:43 Dum de dum dum dum says:
What’s with all the sarcasm? What were you expecting, a My Little Pony sim?
Looks interesting IMO even though the animations don’t look as smooth as InfinityWard’s (RIP.) That said I probably still won’t buy it since all I ever play these days is TF2.
19/05/2010 at 09:46 Lars Westergren says:
Thank you Call of Duty series, for teaching so many that killing and getting killed for your nation is the most noble thing a human being can aspire to, and the greatest thing a game can be. Salute!
I’m a bit fed up with realistic military simulators. Can you tell?
19/05/2010 at 10:45 Bhazor says:
Yes, because gay people seeing a marriage counselor is a much better direction for computer games to go in.
19/05/2010 at 10:53 Rich says:
Huh? Where’d that come from?
19/05/2010 at 11:06 Lars Westergren says:
@Bhazor
I’d play that. Sounds interesting.
:)
19/05/2010 at 11:06 Heliocentric says:
A reference to the radiator halflife 2 mods.
19/05/2010 at 11:35 Lars Westergren says:
@heliocentric
Oh right, there actually exists something like that. I had forgotten about those mods. Thanks. *downloading*
19/05/2010 at 11:44 Bhazor says:
Ooops. I thought you were the guy who made the Radiator mods turns out it was Robert Yang.
Oh, what am I like?
19/05/2010 at 12:15 mrrobsa says:
@Bhazor: I’d definitely much rather play ‘gay people seeing a marriage counselor’ than Hollywood Man-Shoot 17. I love action games but it doesn’t look like this title is really going to offer anything new.
19/05/2010 at 09:47 Sobric says:
I heard it nosedived at Cannes though.
was better recieved.
I’ll probably still see it on Orange Wednesdays though.

Looks rubbish, but I did get excited about the SR-71 Blackbird.
19/05/2010 at 10:02 Thingus says:
Look a bit like Call of Duty… IN SPAAAAACE. Well, for a moment.
19/05/2010 at 10:08 Rich says:
If realistic at all, that’ll be a really boring mission.
You’ll presumably be the CIA agent sitting in the back, rather than the pilot, so you’d be flown around for a while, take some photos, go home.
I imagine however, that it’ll get shot down (never happened), you’ll eject (the CIA agent can’t actually eject) and you’ll have to sneak and fight your way out of some jungle or forest.
19/05/2010 at 12:38 phuzz says:
Yup, bonus points for SR-71
19/05/2010 at 17:43 kyrieee says:
Does the bowcaster from Jedi Knight count?
19/05/2010 at 21:19 dragon_hunter21 says:
In re: Rich:
This seems like a game where they’re going to take “reality” lightly. Remember, the theme of the trailer seems to be “History is fake”. Plus, I’m damn skippy they didn’t have explosive crossbows in Vietnam/Korea/Wherever this is.
19/05/2010 at 10:01 N says:
Holy.Fuck.Crossbow.
19/05/2010 at 14:32 ZIGS says:
Ripped off from TimeShift
19/05/2010 at 14:50 Berzee says:
Also Halflife. And Age of Empires 2.
19/05/2010 at 16:17 Rich says:
Half-Life, yes.
Age of Empires 2? If you’re including strategy games, the list will be pretty long.
19/05/2010 at 16:22 Berzee says:
I know right? We have to thoroughly document this ripoff.
19/05/2010 at 16:24 Berzee says:
Don’t forget Pirates, Viking, and Knights unless you want to classify that as part of HL.
OH! And Deus Ex had that little hand crossbow.
Minicrossbow. <3
19/05/2010 at 17:44 kyrieee says:
Meant to put this here
“Does the bowcaster from Jedi Knight count?”
19/05/2010 at 18:22 Berzee says:
YES! It definitely counts, that’s a legit gun there. Look at all these games that Black Ops is ripping off. Or alternatively, look at all these games that ripped off TimeShift.
19/05/2010 at 23:21 GameOverMan says:
And the crossbow from the No One Lives Forever games, a more realistic depiction of black (kinda) ops than the one in that trailer (probably).
19/05/2010 at 10:02 Rich says:
The bit where the helicopter was going down in flames and the player was flailing around on the end of a rope, but somehow still managed to jump through an open window… that is the moment the very last shred of credibility CoD once had was lost.
19/05/2010 at 10:32 jeremypeel says:
Have you ever seen World at War? Hell, we can go back earlier than that, have you ever seen Call of Duty 3 or Big Red One?
The series’ credibility was shredded the moment Treyarch played COD2 and thought, “Sheeeit, these understated horns are nice an’ all, but couldn’t we have something a little less respectful and a little more Avenged Sevenfold?”
19/05/2010 at 10:54 Rich says:
I forgot about the Nazi zombies.
Why? Why Nazi zombies?
19/05/2010 at 10:56 Rich says:
Didn’t pay any attention to CoD3 or Big Red One, for the simple fact that they didn’t come out on PC, and therefore don’t exist.
19/05/2010 at 11:20 jeremypeel says:
Why not Nazi zombies? It worked for Wolfenstein.
Oh wait…
(Also, I just found an IGN review of Wolfenstein in which the reviewer calls Wolfenstein 3D “the Inglorious Basterds of its day”. I forget how spoilt we are by quality of journalism here.)
19/05/2010 at 11:32 Heliocentric says:
Nazi zombies because on the venn diagram of people it is ethical or null ethically to to kill this is but one overlap, see also serial killer rapists.
19/05/2010 at 18:56 DXN says:
@Heliocentric:

No! Cheerful helicopter, come back to me! Don’t go towards the light!
19/05/2010 at 10:27 Alexander Norris says:
If the MP can actually be balanced (unlike World at War’s fucking horribly broken SMGs), I’ll probably pick this up if only to reward Treyarch’s recognition that matchmaking is dumb.
19/05/2010 at 10:32 wcaypahwat says:
Screw credibility. This looks absolutely berko nuts.
I know CoD just isn’t the same anymore, but still, I love me a good action scene.

19/05/2010 at 10:58 Turin Turambar says:
Oh look, an expansion to MW2, just themed in a different period!
So much for people critizing MW2 campaign, this looks exactly the same.
19/05/2010 at 11:44 Wordy says:
CoD games might as well be released as MP-only games the campaigns are usually so underwhelming/irrelevant.
19/05/2010 at 22:03 Kualtek says:
Call of Duty 4′s campaign was at least OK, if not brilliant in some places. Need more of that and less whatever this is.
I wonder how many times your own character dying will be slapsticked this time around. I have to think that was some kind of parody in MW2.
19/05/2010 at 11:26 Drexer says:
A bit late for this(I actually thought I had mentioned this on a previous post, but apparently not) but:
Inb4 the Americans were ethically correct all along.
19/05/2010 at 11:41 Jimbo says:
That’s some top-notch whining from the narrator. “Wah! Everything is wrong! Nobody understands me! My girlfriend left me! I’m going to cut myself…”
This ain’t no MW2 Infamy Trailer, that’s for sure.
19/05/2010 at 13:22 Superbest says:
Yeah, what the hell? He keeps moaning about some breach of epistemological ethics and all you see is people shooting other people, obviously as part of a war. Not only is the narrative completely divorced from the gameplay, the two are apparently in diametric conflict.
How insulting.
19/05/2010 at 11:47 hamster says:
Didn’t like the narrator. Also, the explosions looked kind of pixelly although that might be an effect of the video recording (i hope) rather than in game graphics.

19/05/2010 at 13:02 Vadermath says:
I’m a sucker for Cold War conspiracies (sucker as in, I’m entertained by them, I don’t believe them), and for some good action, so this should suit me just right. That was also a cool trailer.
19/05/2010 at 13:13 Brendan says:
Haters gon’ hate.
COD4, 5 and 6 were all very decent games. Glitchy, broken and unbalanced in many ways, lacking in story and characters, but still very decent and fun.
I’ll get this when it comes way down in price, just like the previous games.
19/05/2010 at 13:26 Rich says:
Maybe when it’s around £6 or less on a Steam sale.
19/05/2010 at 13:19 Snuffy (the Evil) says:
It already looks more enjoyable than Modern Warfare 2. I probably won’t buy it, but I’ll at least give it a rent on one of those blasted consoles.
19/05/2010 at 13:25 Superbest says:
1:10, is that a woman naked except for bandoliers obscuring her bare chest, shooting a rifle gangsta style?

I think that’s just a body-hairless man.
19/05/2010 at 13:27 int says:

Innovative indeed.

If this was a movie I’d have no interest in seeing it. As it’s a game I’ve even less interest in seeing/playing it.
Hollywood-isation of video games continues relentlessly. Sad thing is all the XBox 360 kids will probably flock to this in droves rather than ignoring it for the utter drivel is it.

A world which is probably not quite as good as the last world but will still mostly be okay if you like that sort of world.”

I’ll wait on this. Not on my radar right now, and this trailer doesn’t do anything to change that, but we’ll see.

I’d play some of these Call of Modern Shooty Khomandoz 46 games if they weren’t such permanently overpriced. It looks fun to me, I don’t know what you guys expect really. I mean their giving me some cool guns and someone to aim them at, thats all I need. Do I really give a crap whether or not a exploding crossbow exists, well as long as its not something like a laser rifle (although if done well, I would probably take that too). The on thing this does confirms is that COD officially hates helicopters, I’ve been keeping a tally and I think at last count I’ve gone down in like 3 or 4 helicopters in just the MW series. I saw atleast 2 Helicopters going down just in this trailer, at this point I’m just like well I’m getting in a Helicopter so that pretty much means I’m screwed =p

reminder that treyarch makes shit games, see CALL OF DUTY 3 on 360 which sported the following bugs:
- get down from a motorbike near a house, and magically pass through walls of said house and appear inside EVEN IF ITS A BUILDING WITHOUT ANY OFFICIAL ENTRANCE
- from said place, you could, amazingly, SHOOT PPL OUTSIDE but you could not be shot inside…
- on “friendly fire OFF” servers, you could still teamkill you teammates by running them over with a car or bike, but they could not destroy the bike/car cause FF was off… wtf…. basically you could only be killed by enemy team, but you could teamkill you mates as long as you wanted
all the above was never patched, making the game a clusterfuck of exploits.
here are some utube to show some bugs of treyarch turd on 360, call of duty 3
- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQ-BRyS9XUM = going straight through scenery – you could pull this shit off on many maps, they were just unchecked and unfinished
- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crWLi8d0a4g&feature=related = spawn in multiplayer and fall into the void, die, rinse and repeat. Another known bug that they never gave a fuck about
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXXutfNBpo8&feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Oc4URM0QcI&feature=related = collection of shit bugs
Oh i forgot, if you played 2 players splitscreen, that opened up another incredible series of bugs, completely different from single player…
