Most of Eve Online’s denizens will already be paying some attention to this, I suspect, but here’s a mention for anyone else that might otherwise be interested. The alliance PvP tournament, which this year takes place across three weekends in June, is about to kick off. Sixty-four teams are signed up, and if this is anything like the last few tournaments then there are going to be some crazy tactics and some giant upsets as it unfolds. CCP have blogged about the event here. Other details of this year’s rules, and the full list of contenders, can be found on the forums. Winners get rare ships and plenty of prestige.
You can watch the tournament streamed live here.

Those two guys must be kicking themselves.
Next time, shower, suite up, open airlock. Not shower, open airlock, suite up.
This is what happens when crew members don’t turn up for training.

@Rich: That’s what I like to call a self-correcting problem.

Nice one Jim!
Alliance Tournament is always great to watch. Will Pandemic Legion win again? oooooh exciting

I’m more curious if they dare to bring a couple of their Mimirs along for the fights. ^_^

I don’t think we’ll see Mirmirs – not because PL don’t have the nerve to fly them, but simply because they’re armour tanked and PL tend to fly shield setups. Sadly we also won’t see Frekis because Daredevils can fill the same role more effectively.

Anyway, go and watch it, it’s always rather awesome.
Few things beat Internet Spaceships zooming around blowing each other up.

It’s on. I don’t understand any of it, but it’s wonderful to watch.

Seems like that second match was eve at its best. Hydra utterly decimated agony and then bribed the losing team. So hydra self destructed a bunch of their ships to give points to agony while receiving 3 billion isk. Great how these politics influence the matches even though I don’t understand a thing about what’s going on.

That is so very, very EVE.

Even more awesomely, Agony claim they didn’t actually pay and the rules mean a high k/l ratio loss is actually better for Hydra in the next round. Pure corruption :)

EVE Online is my favourite game to read about and watch, but I’m absolutely rubbish at it. Still, these are good fun to watch, even if I only kind of know what’s going on.

It is a sad day when a WOODCUTTING simulator gets twice the comments than the infinitely more exciting spaceship shooty shooty tournament.
