Having spent all Thursday working on my World of Love presentation and Friday actually doing it, I’m catching up with the gaming Internet. Hence, seeing Kotaku linking on Thursday to Laura Shigihara’s performing the song she wrote and performed in Plants Vs Zombies, There’s A Zombie On Your Lawn. Ah, 2009 flashback. ‘Tis very cute, and you’ll find it below…

Very cute!
26/06/2010 at 10:02 robrob says:
Watching that has given me diabetes.
26/06/2010 at 10:02 robrob says:
In a good way.
27/06/2010 at 10:31 Gap Gen says:
There’s even a kitten in the video. I mean, come on.
26/06/2010 at 10:05 Midnight says:
Man, I wish I could do a zombie dolphin impression like that!
26/06/2010 at 10:06 Seeker says:
Wow, I cant help but feel she fit the image I had of the singer in my head when I first listened to it really well.
26/06/2010 at 12:00 Mil says:
Yeah, she even resembles the sunflower that was singing in that video. Probably not a coincidence, I would guess.
26/06/2010 at 10:06 Metal_Circus says:
Literally, this is the cutest thing ever.
26/06/2010 at 10:24 Grunt says:
I this SHE is the cutest thing ever. How could you not love her to bits?
26/06/2010 at 11:19 Dominic White says:
Even her website is adorable, in the same way that sleeping kittens are. The girl has refined ‘cute’ to an artform.
26/06/2010 at 20:39 Chaz says:
Couldn’t imagine having rough sex with her though.
26/06/2010 at 20:56 Kid A says:
I can. The quiet ones are always hiding something.
27/06/2010 at 01:57 suibhne says:
Whoa, whoa! Red light!
27/06/2010 at 07:18 Kid A says:
Green light. Commence Operation: Front Lawn Invasion.
(You will now no longer be able to look at that sunflower in the same way ever again.)

26/06/2010 at 12:17 Miles of the Machination says:
Agreed, compadre. Us space-bastards really all have have nice guys inside, it just takes a cute girl singing about zombies to drag him out.
26/06/2010 at 11:37 Bowlby says:
I have an innate distrust of anything that cute.
26/06/2010 at 11:43 Tei says:
Cuteness crits Tei for 90000 points of damage.
***explodes***
26/06/2010 at 11:44 Man Raised By Puffins says:
Also worth mentioning for anyone who wasn’t already aware; awesome zombie noise man George Fan was the lead dev behind Plants v Zombies.
26/06/2010 at 12:01 airtekh says:
I couldn’t help smiling all the way through that. Cute and funny.
Also, her cat’s called Metroid? Awesome!
26/06/2010 at 12:29 YogSo says:
Has she recently moved home? Or have they barged in an empty house (with an out of tune piano)? :P
26/06/2010 at 13:16 Chris D says:
Its not so much that it’s out of tune, more that it’s distorting really badly.
26/06/2010 at 15:27 YogSo says:
It wasn’t meant to be taken as a real criticism, I added it to my “empty house” joke because she said herself it was going to sound a bit funny.
26/06/2010 at 13:26 TeeJay says:
A load of cool little Laura Shigihara tracks here: http://sites.google.com/site/supershigi/
If you think her zombies song is too cute then just listen to her Japanese-language version:
Laura Shigihara – Uraniwa ni Zombies ga!

:-O
26/06/2010 at 15:32 YogSo says:
Himawari? Thanks to that song I’ve just discovered that Crayon Shin-chan little sister is called ‘Sunflower’. The more you know and all that…
27/06/2010 at 00:04 Miles of the Machination says:
The Japanese version is amazing.

26/06/2010 at 15:52 YogSo says:
So, I was checking her site through that link TeeJay posted above, and discovered this other video of her piano improv of the greatest music ever to grace a Final Fantasy game. Officially in love now (as if I wasn’t after the Plants Vs Zombies video).
26/06/2010 at 18:58 airtekh says:
@YogSo
You can say what you like about Final Fantasy games in general, but that doesn’t take away the fact that Nobuo Uematsu is a musical genius.
He’s probably the main reason I have such fond memories of Final Fantasy VII.

Adorable. :3
26/06/2010 at 18:37 geldonyetich says:
Contrary to the song lyrics, there’s an inherent danger that this YouTube video will generate Internet stalker zombies on her lawn.
26/06/2010 at 18:49 Nick says:
The guy doing the zombe impressions is great.
26/06/2010 at 18:56 Peter Radiator Full Pig says:
Any talented RPSers out there able to transcribe the song for piano?
Actually, a better one would be the song for Dr Zomboss Revenge. You can see her playing the notes, though not all.
Unfortuantly, i myself cant.
Heres hoping.
26/06/2010 at 19:57 Spinoza says:
It has to be something terribly wrong with me , but i didn’t like it at all. Sigh.

27/06/2010 at 03:43 IvanHoeHo says:
DO IT.
That’s what I’m doing. Season 1 is not that long, anyway.
26/06/2010 at 21:17 Karthik says:
It’s just not the same without the “Sunflower!” (“Himawari!”) at the beginning. :(
26/06/2010 at 21:55 Gatsby says:
That has made me so proportionately happier.

26/06/2010 at 23:27 Dr. M. "Schadenfreude" Von Katze, PhDD says:
“2009 flashback”? What kind of flashback is that? What is with this neo-hipster I’m-so-cool-and-calendar -edge-cutting thing internets people seem to have? I can understand that in a kid of 16 for whom a year is like a lot of time, but I would’ve thought Mr. Gillen has already been there a while ago.
In fact, I’m gonna play the odds and say he’s been there at least twice =P
27/06/2010 at 07:05 Thants says:
I think it may have been a joke.
27/06/2010 at 23:06 eclipse mattaru says:
Yeah, I also thought that might be the case, but I just saw the opportunity to make a clever and insightful comment o_O

Re: comic sans
The guy thas has created this blog has not idea of graphics, web designs of fonts. Look at the title of his blog:
On the internet, you NEVER write titles as images. But If you do, and is text like this one, you uses something like GIF. Using JPG garante poor legibility because the jpg artifacts
Nowdays we have things like sIRF or Cufon, or one of the standard fonts, or one of the more extended.
Comic Sands don’t need any defense, serve a purpose, but with “friends” like this dude, sure, don’t need enemies.
