“Thermal Discouragement Beam.” “Pneumatic Diversity Vent.”
I’m going to propose that the sad cries of doomed turrets could be in the Top Ten Cutest Noises, Ever.

This is all looking rather wonderful, isn’t it? Really liking the “overrun” style of the levels too–most agreeable.

I think these videos are spoilering too much, that’s why I stopped watching them after the first two.

I would like to like this game but I fear I am too stupid, and will just follow a walkthrough.
/didn’t finish the first one

The new style of Portal is fantastic good (and this is comming from the old one, that is already classic) but if this style serve a ulterior purpose, like linking Portal and Hal-Life worlds, then I am going to die of awesome.

It is now my purpose of the day to use “Die of awesome” in real life conversation.

Is already in the same universe as Half Life 2. Black Mesa and Aperture Science were competing companies. Check it out:

In fact, you could see the Aperture logo in that boat or whatever that they found near the end of Episode 2. I’m not sure, but I seem to remember Eli Vance mentioning Aperture and all.

“Going to die of awesome?”
You just gave me my new catch phrase.
However I do agree with you, Portal 1 was awesome, Portal 2 is looking even more awesome, a tie-in with HL would be too much. I’d be hard pressed to find a reason to go to bed till I finished it.

Just make sure you don’t pass out and accidentally assume the party escort submission position.

Imagine finding out that Freeman is actually Chell’s grand-son and Glados created the combine.
I would happily assume that position and die of awesome. Ha!

I have to somehow find the willpower to not watch these. :) It sounds like this is a game worth playing ‘fresh’, without hype and expectations.

I may be showing how small my killing gland is, but when I played Portal I never really thought “I wish I could focus a deadly beam of death upon the turrets”.

Hope there aren’t too many more of these videos.
I can’t help watching them, but at this rate I’m going to know how to solve all the puzzles before the game is even released.

Well I think that’s the point, giving everyone advance time to mull it over. Those extra elements people were saying might upset the purity of the original will be firmly ready to go in your brain.
Clever chaps, them Valves.

Why is the player not pulled into the vents (from about 40 seconds onwards)?
02/07/2010 at 14:35 Vague-rant says:
Weight difference. Chell can pick up a turret so presumably its not that heavy, and the labs falling apart anyway so it can pull the tiles off the walls.
Also, ‘cos that would make problems in the game.
