Remember the game about a bear driving a car? It happened. It actually happened. A bear drove a car.
A BEAR DROVE A CAR.

They’re alreeaaadyyyy heeeeeeere!

Proof that games cause real life behavior.
25/07/2010 at 14:30
“It happens all the time,” he said. “They’re very smart.”
25/07/2010 at 16:42
Yes, because I actually thought the bear had played a game…?
25/07/2010 at 16:56
That’s what I was playing along with, yes.
Except I was implying they drove cars even before they played it.
What’s the correct protocol for these situations?
25/07/2010 at 17:59
Now I’m not one to diss a bear but locking yourself in a small metal box before rolling it down a hill is not particularly smart.
25/07/2010 at 13:59
I remember this was exactly what I thought when I saw this story earlier. Although I don’t think real bear had as much success as game bear.
25/07/2010 at 14:03
How can that be?

you think that’s crazy, but there’s a war going on in the middle-east just like in call of duty modern warfare!
you can’t make this stuff up!
25/07/2010 at 14:18
Were there badgers involved?

25/07/2010 at 14:43
The bear’s bloodshot eye makes the entire game for me.

This is why I love Rock, Paper, Shotgun.
Thankyou Alec <3
25/07/2010 at 14:58
If you look very closely you’ll see that a bear made that game too.
25/07/2010 at 15:03
Bear is not in driver seat. He only co-pilot.

ROAR, GRRR, ARRR, ROOOOAR*.

@Heliocentric : ok, that was hilarious.
25/07/2010 at 22:36
I enjoyed that too.
26/07/2010 at 00:48
I like how, according to the story, the bear kept hitting the horn. Was he trying to get attention of friendly humans to let him out, or was he hitting the horn because this was the only sign his adversary (the car) was enduring pain?

I’ve been waiting for this post all day…
25/07/2010 at 16:39
I will be thoroughly amazed if we ever get to use that tag ever again.
25/07/2010 at 17:02
Oh nooo plz, surrealistic articles about bears driving cars don’t do well with sickness… Am I dying? Please comfort me…

this bear is a big fan of the brothers in arms series of games:

I love how nonchalantly it’s carrying that explosive ammo. I can imagine it whistling and maybe just tossing it in the air and catching it whilst waiting for a forest bus.
25/07/2010 at 20:13
How can this be?
26/07/2010 at 00:09
I was wondering why there was a bare (ha!) radio lying on the dashboard, but then I realized that bear had RIPPED OFF THE DASHBOARD ITSELF.
RIP AND TEAR!

DJ Phantoon says:
Okay, guys. The bears won. Time to pack up and let them have the Earth. I can safely say we had a good run, but now I can’t run safely because BEARS CAN DRIVE CARS. Which is funny because a one ton animal can drive a car just twice his weight.

i tweeted about this, thought i was so original making the connection :(.

It’s a sad day when I learn about something that happened not more than an hour from my own home on a British computer gaming website.
AND IN THE GAME?
26/07/2010 at 09:45
In the photo it looks like the bear is smoking a cigar. I heartily approve of this.
26/07/2010 at 12:04
Do we now get a ‘Based upon a True Story!” commemorative re-release of the game, replete with ripped-off dash and peanut butter sammich?
28/07/2010 at 10:01
I am thoroughly relieved that I’m not the only one who noticed the similarity!
