No time2play? Try Time4Cat. It’s an over-in-minutes, single-mechanic flash game that’s about as much like a flash game as you could ever imagine, at least in terms of controls. It’s also about a cat eating untold amounts of food on a busy crossroads and helplessly controlling time as it does, so you’ll want to play it anyway. The faster you move, the more you score from each food-munch – but the faster the pedestrians storm about the place and the more danger you end up in. But what does it all mean? Well, it’s a metaphor for a time-controlling cat eating icecreams in the middle of road, silly.
It makes no sense whatsoever but it’s charmingly-drawn and, as Kyle Orland observed, it’ll devour your afternoon. Not quite this month’s Robot Unicorn Attack – no Erasure, for a start – but definitely sporting some of the same brain-cuddling compulsion.

It would need to be directly based on another, more original game to be this month’s Robot Unicorn Attack.
27/08/2010 at 19:08 Starky says:
Don’t forget though it would need vastly superior and fun gameplay than that first and more original game too.
27/08/2010 at 20:49 Deacon Blues says:
I suppose it’s a matter of taste, but removing the obstacle variety then adding a dash button, score boosting pickups and an amusing song didn’t quite do it for me.

Hmmm, it reminds me of one “episode” of the Animatrix, with the missing cat, and the strange warehouse full of matrix bugs where the kids go to play.
Nice little time-waster, but now I’m back to mafia 2 :3

No offense, but you grant this shit a whole post on RPS?
This isn’t “a creative indie game”, this is just a stupid flash game, not standing out among the millions out there. This is really bad. No more please.
27/08/2010 at 17:52 lumpi says:
That wasn’t supposed to be all-bold, but my disappointment remains.
27/08/2010 at 17:55 JimRyanor says:
Yeah I agree, one of those half posts would have been much better.
27/08/2010 at 20:13 Alec Meer says:
What a lot of energy you just wasted.
27/08/2010 at 20:34 Arathain says:
Lumpi are you… are you happy?
27/08/2010 at 20:59 pupsikaso says:
I disagree. Just because furthering the game industry with bold and experimental indie games is a noble pursuit, doesn’t meant that we have to completely ignore everything else. And it /is/ a lovely short game. If you can’t stop and enjoy the little things in life, you’ll never find happiness.

You forget websites only have a few litres of space in which to post things. Alec can’t just fill it all up with enjoyable flash games!

How many litres to the peggle?
28/08/2010 at 03:04 JimRyanor says:
We must remember, it is such a break from RPS’s normal posting habits, no wonder he’s disappointed.

I am offended. No cat would eat up any scrap on the street. That’s what dogs do.

I don’t matter until you learn how to properly bold things.

I’m sure I’ve seen this on RPS before.
Must have been somewhere else.

No, no, I do believe I’ve seen this here, as well. But it’s possible we’re both mistaken.

I liked it. Literally, pressed the like button for FB. And I never do that.
28/08/2010 at 03:09 bill says:
AHA! Working replies!!
Out of interest, what happens when you press that FB “like” button? I’ve always been too scared to do it, as I assume it will be something scary, unwanted, irreversible – or apocalyptic.
Does it immediately send a message to all my (3) contacts?
27/08/2010 at 18:14 Tom O'Bedlam says:
Isn’t this game a few years old? Still, its good fun.
27/08/2010 at 18:45 Robin says:
Yeah, it’s about a year old I think. Still great though.
More Flash games on RPS please (he said completely unselfinterestedly. =)

105,991 before I was flattened by an errant cyclist. Had two Force Push powers in the bank, too.
I really liked how the design actually lets the player set his own pace. It could either be a relaxing zen game or a frantic bullet hell depending on how much you want the time bonus on each pickup.

Check out:
The Legend of Cheetocorn
I didn’t feel dirty playing it, even though it is an ad game, as said cheese flavoured corn snacks are unavailable for me to purchase, so it could never work on me [evil laugh]

“Game loading, please wait.”
Odd how it can do that with no network traffic. Goddamnit, I understand that the marketroids may wish to subject me to N seconds of supposedly gawping at their inane nonsense so that an appropriate pittance may make its way to the developer or at least cover the bandwidth consumed, but it’s just unsporting to lie about the cause of the delay.
28/08/2010 at 00:54 pupsikaso says:
Yeah, it was weird. It loaded twice. Like first it loaded the title and then it loaded the game =/
