Trine, the comforting bedtime story of a game, is back with its side-scrolling, co-operative physics manipulations. They’re calling it Trine 2. I know! But that’s okay, because it looks just as lovely as the original, and that original was never quite long enough. This second piece in-game footage shows off some of the co-op game that you can play with, y’know, friends. If they’re interested. They’re probably not interested. Bastards.

I’ve had no luck with coop play either.
Wonderful little game, I hope we set up some kind of RPS coop pool for Trine 2.
We’ll call it “Trine Gentlemen, please”

Nice. ;)

I really should get around to finishing the first game.

Same here. It was really lovely but I just forgot about it. P.s. for some reason my little sun conure hates Trine. I don’t know what it is but if he is on me and I play it he gets really, really, agitated. He has no problem with most other games (he especuially likes driving sims for some reason).

Hooray, giant frogs! I wish I had a giant frog. A friendly one, obviously. We don’t know about the motives of that one in the screenshot. Mine would be the friendliest frog.

That frog needs a furry wall to go with that Jeffery.

Ah i dunno, i´d just be at home all day licking it- licking it real good.

I hate Trine forever for leaving TheBigFile.file lying in my C:\ for no reason whatsoever, even when I uninstalled the game.
FOREVER, hate.
12/10/2010 at 17:13 jalf says:
Ah, just like MS Office then. :)
At least they didn’t *delete* the contents of C:\, like Eve Online did at one point. Could be worse ;)

I never actually finished the last level of Trine. It was so hard. :(
12/10/2010 at 17:38 Urthman says:
Do you have the patched version that made the last level less difficult?
12/10/2010 at 17:25 Corbain says:
Excellent!

I also haven’t completed the first game. But that’s mostly due to being rubbish at these kinds of games. Still I haven’t completely given up on it yet.

They should keep trine to come up with a better name, though.

that music is truly delightful
12/10/2010 at 18:06 Wulf says:
A visually and aurally pleasing platformer, one that looks fun and charming. More of the same, then? Of course, in my opinion, more of the same of Trine isn’t a bad thing at all.
12/10/2010 at 18:22 Toyoch says:
Is that a spliff in the frogs mouth?
12/10/2010 at 18:35 Matt says:
Only if spliffs suddenly started being rolled with frog-tongues…

The next one must be called Thrine

I think we should forcibly deport all punners to the comments section of the Depth article. For the sake of the children, of course.

Trin3?

The game named in the remainder of this sentence is not called Quine: “the game named in the remainder of this sentence is not called Quine”.

I loved the original. More of the same would be fine by me.
I wonder if they’re doing online coop with this, or if it’s the must-be-at-the-same-pc style of the first?
12/10/2010 at 22:18 skalpadda says:
I most definitely have a vague memory of online coop being mentioned in an earlier post.
12/10/2010 at 20:35 Simon says:
Not a shame!
I fucking loved Trine and this looks absolutely delightful.
12/10/2010 at 23:37 Phil Armstrong says:
Trine was lovely; I hope this isn’t just “more of the same” though, because I’m not sure that more of the same will really sell when the original is still around…
13/10/2010 at 03:34 Soobe says:
Simply stunning.
I don’t know what it is about games like this (Bionic Commando Rearmed, Alien Swarm), but they look so much better than the “full 3d” games.
Sign me up!

I’ve probably completed the first one 4-5 times, it is just amazingly beautiful to play and love that there is more than one solution to each puzzle.
13/10/2010 at 13:34 skalpadda says:
Few games in the last couple of years have managed to just make me feel good the way Trine did. Looking forward to this one enormously :)
13/10/2010 at 19:37 pupsikaso says:
There is online coop for this? The first was only local. It wasn’t a problem, really. It was a great game solo, but I’m sure it would have been a lot more fun coop nonetheless.
