It’s been a while since people who like transportation systems have been well catered for by PC gaming. Paradox have seen that gap and now they’re sliding into it like a gelatinous cube of game development in a slick tube of publishing. This trailer for Cities In Motion shows off their metro system, which looks rather pretty, and also has a lovely underground mode which allow you to build train tracks in the depths of the earth. Hell, I haven’t seen that since I was playing Minecraft, yesterday. Sorry, sorry.
Additionally: I think this looks really fun. I know, but I am Truck Simulator guy. We all have our issues.

Signed up for the beta, and I hope to get in. Maybe, just maybe, this could be the 3D upgrade of transport tycoon that I’ve been waiting for.

Transport Tycoon really needs a major graphical overhaul.

*fondly remembers the horrible underground metro and waterpipe system in Sim City 2000*
Hair-pull-o-tastic it was!
15/10/2010 at 13:17 Surgeon says:
Bloody hell, I’d totally forgotten about that and how infuriatingly fiddly it was.
15/10/2010 at 08:56 megaman says:
Looks pretty. OpenTTD so far filled all my Transport Tycoon needs during the last couple of years, but it indeed looks pretty and an additional perspective on the “Transportation of the Masses” theme can’t hurt. :)

What, this game has no actual webpage, just a freaking Facebook page? :-/ I’m sorry mr Zuckerberg, but I will not bend over for your scummy, data-stealing narcissist engine.
Closest I managed to find to a ‘real’ webpage:

Egads, Jim! Thanks – the first thing my brain did was try to picture that…and it succeeded! There was green gunk flowing EVERYWHERE. My poor brain…

I’m walking in line, I’m visiting cities in motion.
I’m walking in line, just barely enough to be living.
Gett outta the way (no time to being)
This isn’t the time (so nothing was done)
Not talking about (not many at all)
I’m turning around (no trouble at all)
Two different cities surround you, ’round you

His cities are in motion,
Fred turned his tender eyes to me.
As deep as any metro,
As sweet as any harmony.
But he blinded me with planning–

And PLEASE STAND CLEAR OF THE DOORS

This is shaping up to be a must have. One thing I loved about Transport Tycoon which this might not have is the level editor. Watching those small, crappy little towns you placed around the map flourish as your transport network expands really helped make that game something amazing.

I’m genuinely excited about this.
The shame, oh the shame :(

Doesn’t look like this will be like TTD at all. This is all about transportation in and between cities, whereas in TTD cities were the weakest point.

I’m just waiting for the day a Transport tycoon comes out for the Sim city 4 engine.
ah, I dream though.
