Ubisoft’s just released a $9.99 portion of DLC for H.A.W.X. 2 PC entitled Open Skies. A pretty hasty move, considering it’s been less than two weeks since the PC release of H.A.W.X. 2 and about two days since the Steam release, but nevermind THAT because the pack gets you three new team missions, five new planes and two new skins. Is that what you wanted, HAWX 2 fans? Or did the release of HAWX 2 pass you by, like a jetfighter in the night? If so, the latest testostetacular trailer can be viewed below.

Last week I went along to see the first game from 11 bit studios, the new independant developer that’s made up by a collection of ex-CD Projekt staffers. The first thing the gentleman demoing the game did was apologise for the game’s title- Anomaly: Warzone Earth. The second thing he did was explain that it was a tower defense game, which he didn’t apologise for. That’s because Warzone Earth is a tower defense game that you play… in reverse.

Telltale have released their all-star super-cheap poker game, Poker Night At The Inventory. Starring characters from a range of games, and including all their original voice actors, it’s a really fun idea. But is it also a fun game? I’ve been through an awful lot of its tournaments, and am ready to throw in my chips and tell you Wot I Think.

Rhythm is a funny word. Rhythm. The more I look at it, the less I like it. Which is quite the opposite effect that Rhythm Zone has on me. Initially I wasn’t all that taken with its apparently perfunctory rhythm-game presentation, but it’s actually not bad, and has some cleverness under the hood. My words about this game continue below.

You all downloaded and played Super Crate Box, right? Back when that came out I pored over Dutch developer Vlambeer‘s site to see if they had any other projects. They had better than “another project”. They had a game called Radical Fishing, which as of today has been released in browser-game format. I think I’ll just let this game speak for itself. You can play it here, and watch trailers for both it and Vlambeer’s next mini-project (entitled SPACE MURDER) below. Man, we have so many indie teams doing wonderful, wonderful work these days.

Ouch! I’ve just been shot by the news gunman. I hate that guy. So, it turns out DeathSpank pt. 2, Thongs of Virtue, will be released on November 30th and will include both console DLC The Snowy Mountain Dungeon as well as an exclusive co-op partner named Tankko- “half-man, half-spider and all awesome.” Caw, it feels like it was only yesterday that DeathSpank came out. Probably because it basically was. Four weeks between releases? I could do with some more of that in my gaming diet. Trailer after the jump.

A video introducing Sanctum, one of the capital cities in Rift, can be found below. It is, in case you were wondering, a fantasy MMO, and this is very definitely the seat of power for the good guys. This quick overview of Sanctum and its monumental architecture leaves little doubt about that. More usefully, Trion Worlds have also sent over some beta keys. ‘Tis the day for revisiting indie delights from months gone by. In this case, scenery-destroying treat Tiny & Big: a game whose prototype demo offered lovely art, big ideas, crazy physics and slightly cumbersome puzzles. Developers Black Pants are gearing up for the game proper’s first chapter, ‘Grandpa’s Leftovers.’ Going on the trailer below, they’ve clearly ramped up the excellent world-cleaving merriment… CLEAVO!

The ‘games I keep meaning to play’ list has now reached the proportions of [unkind joke about your mother redacted], but today I finally found time to peer curiously at 10 minute RPG Desktop Dungeons. Kieron previously posted about it here, wherein the gigantic wibbling wimp praised its design but moaned about its difficulty. I have successfully proved myself the stronger man than he, and it has absolutely nothing to do with the balance-tuning patches added since release.
