Now we’ve gotten to the bottom of why the boulder is smiling, we at RPS haven’t a single reservation about Rock of Ages. Just look at it! It is literally rock and roll. This is going to be an amazing game. And if you watch the following trailer, you’ll discover that even the powerups are going to be pretty good. We’ve got Iron Bands, Fireball, Wings and, uh, Petroleum.
Is this the first hint we’ve received that those peasants are going to be working the fields and employing some kind of resource management? Hmm. That sounds good too. HMM.

I so want this game. I loved Zeno Clash (despite really not expecting too) more for the style than the gameplay but this one seems to have both style and substance.
Looks a-stone-ishingly good.

And the visual style definitely rubbles me the right way.
16/12/2010 at 19:39 KillahMate says:
Definitely looks like a boulder design than its predecessor.

The art certainly looks gneiss! Though I’m not jet sure if I’ll buy this game when it comes out. I sure hope you can lignite your opponents with that flaming powerup.

God, I love the Monty Pythonesque animations explaining each powerup! :) This is going to be the most stylish game of 2011!
16/12/2010 at 21:52 Alexander Norris says:
I find it hard to believe they’re making Monty P minigames for Facebook but that Terry Gilliam wasn’t involved in this in any way.
Also, Atlus are awesome.
16/12/2010 at 13:52 Burc says:
I haven’t really grasped what the core gameplay of Boulder of Eras is, but it sure looks amazing!
16/12/2010 at 14:09 Ricc says:
Those wings looks oddly cute for a boulder. I like it!

If this turns out to be as good as I imagine it, why, I’m just going to up and faint.
16/12/2010 at 15:20 Lars Westergren says:
I used to think of this as “nice little indie title, I’ll buy it but I don’t know when (if ever) I’ll have time to play it”. It is starting to move up into the “one of my most anticipated games next year” category.

I would imagine, yes.
One of the dev’s posted on their forum that they’re still looking at the different channels for PC distribution (ie more than Steam).

16/12/2010 at 17:38 The Innocent says:
Stoked for this game. I really hope it turns out the way I’m imagining it in my head.
16/12/2010 at 18:05 The Dark One says:
I think the most impressive thing in that whole video was how well the motion blur on the rock worked.
16/12/2010 at 21:10 Deccan says:
Between this and Gnomebliteration, have there ever been better days for destroying our enemies with rolling spheres?

I like the fact that when I first glanced at that screenshot on the header my mind immediately said “ACE Team” before I had read a single word or identified anything in the picture. Even though it’s a completely different setting and engine than Zeno Clash, their games seem to have an unmistakable visual identity that’s really unique.
17/12/2010 at 11:16 TomA says:
Ugg boots, well these things are certainly finding their target market.
