Fight For Flight For Fight Demo

By John Walker on March 14th, 2011.

Sadly this screenshot is about as animated as the game was when I tried to play it.

In my lifelong quest to tell you about every demo that’s available (the giant silver mermaid that gave me this quest gave me special permission to not have to include every single casual game in this task), I bring you word of Flight For Fight. The backwardsly named aeronautic combat sim is an… oh, I already said. A weeny 25MB demo is here, but unfortunately it absolutely does not work on my PC. Demos, eh?! If it runs properly on yours, tell everyone else how it is below. Do my job for me, and I’ll keep all the money.

BioShock 2 Protector Trials DLC Hits Today

By Quintin Smith on March 14th, 2011.

You're fired! Hohoho I'm causing another being unimaginable pain

The BioShock 2 Protector Trials DLC arrives on PC today, adding a new challenge mode and six arenas to 2K’s inarguably moist epic. A mere seven and a half months late, too! That said, we’re getting it for free, and having had a read of Christian Donlan’s Eurogamer review this sounds to me like neat enough stuff. Take a look at some in-game footage below, if you’re curious. Thx Blues for the tip-off.

By Dan Griliopoulos on March 14th, 2011.

Trion Worlds’ MMO Rift is alive and online, so we sent intrepid, moustachioed reporter Dan Gril into its midsts to tell us all. Skulls Of The Shogun’s Third Début Trailer

By John Walker on March 14th, 2011.

I don't forgive them for their apostrophe in 1960's on their website though.

One project RPS is following with intrigue, Skulls Of The Shogun, has released a “début trailer” on PAX East. A strange term bearing in mind the previous two trailers. But it matters not a jot when this new trail is such fun.

Korea Criminal: Homefront Launch Trailer

By Quintin Smith on March 14th, 2011.

If that's the sun then why is it night?

Good morning, good morning, my frail and noble villagers of this leaky hamlet we call PC gaming. Homefront‘s out in America tomorrow and in Europe and Australia on Friday, so if you ever wanted to shoot a man with a gun then this is the week for you. All the reviews I can find online are 9/10s so far, which sounds good. The launch trailer awaits you below, packed tightly with footage of expensive military hardware blowing up. Better than any morning cup of tea, eh?

The Sunday Papers

By Jim Rossignol on March 13th, 2011.

The Sunday Papers is a collection of internet links that, when clicked, may take you to sites other than Rock, Paper, Shotgun. Do not be alarmed. Sunday is a day for tourism to other, lesser sites, where you can read the work of intelligent, occasionally frightening, people from all around the internet. It’s okay, just sit down and try a few. Take your time. It’s all going to be just fine.

  • Thing of the week has to be Ryan Henson Creighton of Untold Entertainment accounting how he games the “No F@%$ucking Respect! Social Game Developers Rant Back” session at GDC last week. It’s quite the read. The panel had set up a social game which was to be played out by the attendees, allowing someone to do a guest rant. And Ryan did a naughty: “And here, through the uncharacteristic use of cunning and deceit, i had snatched the entire bag of plastic coins that GDC’s social games industry powerhouses needed to run their social game. i tried to judge how best to cram the coins into my body cavity to hide them, and decided instead to furtively stuff the bag into my backpack before giddily awaiting the coming storm.” Now that’s someone who had a memorable GDC.

Cardboard Children: Survive!

By Robert Florence on March 12th, 2011.

Hello youse.

I’m often asked to suggest a good family boardgame that can replace the likes of Monopoly and Cluedo in dad’s secret porn closet. When I get asked this question, there is only one possible answer.

Settlers of Catan.

The RPS Bargain Bucket: 730 Days

By Lewie Procter on March 12th, 2011.

In the time that I have been writing this column, the earth has now successfully orbited around the sun exactly twice. Yes, the bargain bucket is two years old, or at least it will be on Monday. And most importantly of all, have you visited SavyGamer.co.uk yet? Read the rest of this entry »

EA Retracts Game Ban For Forum Violation

By John Walker on March 11th, 2011.

Maybe not so much then.

Wow, well here’s a crazy update. After being repeatedly told that he was intentionally locked out of his EA games because he broke the rules on the BioWare forum, and that this was in accordance to the Terms Of Service that he’d agreed to, this morning’s internet famous man, Arno, has just been told that it was in fact a mistake.

Garry’s Mod + Kinect = Dancing DOG

By John Walker on March 11th, 2011.

This is what gaming was building up to.

In a list of inevitable, but glorious things, someone figuring out how to get Kinect working with Garry’s Mod appeared near the top. And Bit-Tech brings us wonderful news of its happening. The program allows the user to manipulate objects within Source, taking advantage of the engine’s physics. Which primarily involves kicking boxes. And better still, innovator John Boiles has made a truly brilliant video to prove it. It’s below. Watch this.
