As seems to be common practice in these cyber-times, Croteam have released a single new Serious Sam 3 screenshot. That’s it up there. Click for bigger, but be sure not to look at it all at once! Quick, look away! Now, look back! Away again! Back again! Away again! Back again! Away again! Back again! Away again! And finally back again*.

Oh, no. Did you topple onto your cat?

zhengvvm: reply fail!
21/04/2011 at 17:16 Rii says:
Lens flare is so 2003.
21/04/2011 at 17:20 frenz0rz says:
Indeed, and Serious Sam is so 2001.
Doesnt stop me from really looking forward to a new one though :)
21/04/2011 at 18:40 BAReFOOt says:
I only see a shielded area. Or maybe a pressure wave? :P
21/04/2011 at 18:51 Urthman says:
I think of Serious Sam as so 1993. In a good way.
22/04/2011 at 00:33 smi1ey says:
I think you’re confusing Lense Flare with God Beams. SO different.
22/04/2011 at 10:26 Wulf says:
One of the many names for crepuscular rays! It actually surprises me how many there are, and I wasn’t familiar with that one until just now. I’d heard ‘god rays’ but ‘god beams’ is yet another new one.
22/04/2011 at 16:43 Dhatz says:
what doesnt surprise me is how they stil can’t figure out that the rays are the only solution to volumetric shadowing of particles because god rays only appear if there is substance in the environment.
22/04/2011 at 16:51 Rii says:
@smi1ey
No, no, no, at the base of the worm-thing, silly!
22/04/2011 at 18:28 Dhatz says:
I dont know how people can accept lens flare if theyre supposed to be plaing a FPS meatbag.
21/04/2011 at 17:25 Pop says:
Hah! The fools, when it comes time to release my game, I shall trump them with a FRACTION of a screen shot.
21/04/2011 at 17:28 Colthor says:
Games Workshop actually do this with pics of forthcoming models. I shit you not.
21/04/2011 at 18:41 zbeeblebrox says:
Forget fractions. When I start releasing info on my game, the media will be LUCKY if they get more than a couple pixels of a screenshot at a time.
21/04/2011 at 19:23 Pop says:
@ zbeeblebrox,
Love that. I’m going to give each outlet a pixel each everyday and see whether they can piece it together. It’ll be like the ValveARG, only cooler.
21/04/2011 at 22:17 Ridnarhtim says:
I will create a massive ARG full of puzzles and tricks and impossibly hard challenges, and each will unlock a new pixel (a colour, and 2 coordinates) to a screenshot.
21/04/2011 at 17:26 Longrat says:
Now THAT is a screenshot I can root for. So much better than mass effect’s screenshots.

… guys, I think you’ve been playing too much Portal lately :)
21/04/2011 at 18:37 McDan says:
Which is totally a good thing.
21/04/2011 at 17:36 Muzman says:
Disappointed.
The horrid sand monster doesn’t have tickets to that thing I love.
21/04/2011 at 18:53 Berzee says:
HA! Well done.
21/04/2011 at 17:42 ZIGS says:
The only thing that screenshot did was make me even less interested in a game I already had little interest in (not really a fan of those mindless shooters)
21/04/2011 at 18:30 Anonymous Coward says:
serious sam is mindless for about the first 10 minutes of the game. after that you have to use ur brain and play skillfull to finish the game. trust me you DO spam enemies with bullets in serious sam but they also spam you back and you have to do some crazy dodging to survive some of the bigger fights.
21/04/2011 at 17:48 Marshall Stele says:
…is the picture suddenly diamonds?
21/04/2011 at 18:54 Berzee says:
HA! Also well done.
21/04/2011 at 21:09 V. Profane says:
I’m on a graboid.
21/04/2011 at 17:48 Cooper says:
Knowing Serious Sam games, that chopper probably is in the background. Which is a good thing.
21/04/2011 at 18:15 Vague-rant says:
Ha! The chopper is actually huge, just far away and the worm is about 1 inch in front of the camera. The next few Serious Sam screens will be using forced perspective of the same scene in several clever ways, until we get the whole picture.
I know this isn’t what you mean, but I wish it were true.
21/04/2011 at 17:50 Cyber Rat says:
The sky is blue. Any qualms about purchasing this game are gone now. Thank you, screenshot.
21/04/2011 at 17:56 Petethegoat says:
Is that volumetric sand I see?
mmmmmmmm
21/04/2011 at 18:43 zbeeblebrox says:
Considering the beams of light projecting away from the helicopter, it appears to be volumetric *everything*
21/04/2011 at 18:02 squareking says:
So good, it must be fattening!
21/04/2011 at 18:05 Postal76 says:
Sounds like someone has been playing Portal 2.
21/04/2011 at 18:40 BAReFOOt says:
There. Fixed that for ya. :P
21/04/2011 at 18:56 Berzee says:
Ha! it’s funny because his name is Postal!
21/04/2011 at 18:05 Navagon says:
Sandworms!
I don’t see this game playing like an unofficial Tremors game somehow. But I’m sure they’ll make it work.
21/04/2011 at 21:40 Mut says:
I can just see Fred Ward whipping off his hat and muttering, “Graboids!”
21/04/2011 at 22:35 Navagon says:
Now I’ve started wondering if a Tremors game could work. Or would it be too much like that bit in HL2 where you have to stay off the sand? Probably…
21/04/2011 at 22:37 Oak says:
If?
22/04/2011 at 15:33 gorgol says:
hehe, nice game link :)
21/04/2011 at 19:18 magnus says:
I got my look away and back agains mixed up, now I’m completely confused!
21/04/2011 at 19:23 Torgen says:
Are you doing it while on a horse?
21/04/2011 at 19:27 tsmike says:
My God, is that…..colour?
I’ve been replaying the first and second encounter since they announced 3, it’s still bloody good fun. Can’t wait!
21/04/2011 at 19:28 Teddy Leach says:
Yes, but what did Fork say about it?
21/04/2011 at 19:42 skraeling says:
I wish this was a trick and the sand was the actual monster and that the world was composed of fleshy, toothy hills. And that the helicopter was the sun and the sun was a helicopter.
21/04/2011 at 19:52 Bhazor says:
Not like Sam to be all coy with us.
Show us the goods damn it!
21/04/2011 at 21:08 Dana says:
A Helicopter ? I have a bad feeling about this.
21/04/2011 at 22:40 thepaleking says:
I can’t wait to explode all over that thing with my gigantic rocket launcher.
22/04/2011 at 13:05 patricij says:
AND IN THE GAME!
