GLaDOS Is A Good Old Brick

But no Lego Wheatley. Aw.

Things that are good + LEGO = Happiness. It’s a sum we were all taught in school, and it’s as true today as it ever was. So when a clever person, Catsy [CSF], builds a customised GLaDOS and Chell out of LEGO, I’m so sold. Have a look at a couple of the splendid results below.

Here’s the lady herself:

And here’s Chell.

To see the rest of them, and in full size, head on over to Catsy’s Flickr page. Thanks to Leigh and Superpunch.

    That GLaDOS is very sophisticated.

  2. Stranglove says:

Catsy is a very good builder, one I used to follow when I was into lego.

    It’s not Lego if I can’t see a brick.

Got to agree, it’s just plastic simplified miniature.

Actually, It’s Lego Bionicle, An off-shoot of lego that uses things like the ball joint you can see on the side of GLaDOS

Let down by blocks using the same texture for all sides, so pegs all the way. But almost there…

    • Rhin says:

Legos are minecraft with a really simple texture pack, that’s all.

Portal 2 is the new Minecraft. John will paint a companion cube over that fridge he painted into a grass block that used to have a companion cube painted on it.

Legoland needs an actual size version of Aperture Labs.

Thanks for the blog and link!

For what it’s worth, the Chell minifig isn’t intended to be completely accurate–the photo above is a work-in-progress photo of my custom ASHPD, and I threw together Chell just so that I’d have an appropriate minifig to hold the Portal Gun for taking a photo.

Once I’ve finished the ASHPD I’ll be making a better Chell fig and doing a scene with GLaDOS.

LEGO! It’s LEGO! For god’s sake its plural is LEGO!

    • Gap Gen says:

Sadly, impoverished Europeans can only afford one Lego. We already splurged out on all those mathematics.

  13. Headache says:

    Where are Chell’s boots?

    • Catsy says:

See above. The Chell is actually just a temporary fig for displaying the Portal Gun. Once I’ve finished the gun I’m going to put some time into a proper Chell custom fig.

  14. Wulf says:

I’ve seen some custom figures in my time and I have to say that those are simply amazing, they really are. Both GLaDOS and Chell are incredibly convincing.

Valve? You should make this happen officially. I’m tempted to mail Mr. Newell and point this out to him.

    • Wulf says:

You know what this comments thread has now convinced me of as well?

We need Atlas and P-Body action figures.

  15. My2CENTS says:

That’s the American Chell, look how chubby that little LEGO woman is.

  16. TheLastBaron says:

I find things like this and cool things people make in minecraft really depressing because I’ll never be able to think of something awesome like this.
