It has started. The flood of E3 trailers has begun. Below you can watch the first in-game trailer for The Darkness 2, which features people being brutally evisecarated by black tentacles. There’s also a lovely scene where the protagonist is being nailed to a door or something. It’s not pleasant. Fortunately I’ve also embedded a video of a cat cuddling a sleeping kitten, just in case you require an antidote to seeing metal spikes being hammered through your hands.
Upsetting:
Soothing:

Awwwwwwwwww
report
That was at the first vid right?
report
Eurgh! Awww. Eurgh!
report
Yeah, I’m allergic to cats too.
report
Is that big cat trying to bite through the neck of that little cat?!
Man, that’s messed up…..!
report
i like the bright colours, its cool how with this + witcher 2 + rage + brink games are finally getting out of the brown pit
report
Are you talking about the video with cats? :)
report
i give the credit to Mirror’s Edge.

“Meanwhile, two-thirds of the world’s population don’t have access to clean drinking water.”
report
Shuu! Leave my conscious be!
report
The Darkness is doomed: Cat’s shall cuddle all!
report
I sensibly avoided the unpleasent fantasy video and skipped straight to the soothing reality kitten video :P
I have only one comment I feel I must add, “Awwwww! :D”. That is all.
report
haha. Me too! I will watch the darkness video now though. I enjoyed the first one despite how eerily empty the streets were all the time
report
I hope this actually does come out on PC this time. The first game was superb!
Also, shame that trailer has a big spoiler of something that happens in the first game…can’t convince people to play the first by showing them how cool the second one looks :/
report
If you watched the whole trailer you’d see it says PC at the end.
Also, this time it’s a different developer working on it. Digital Extremes, the guys that did all of the Unreal Tournament stuff.
report
I enjoyed the Darkness probably more than it deserved, but it was a shooter that actually had a worthwhile story, which is a rarity, and quad-wielding is a splendid idea. I’m disappointed that Kirk Acevedo doesn’t seem to be voicing Jackie this time though.
report
I know a dog who did Quad wielding a long Time ago.
Off topic: And THIS games predecessor (that withe the quad wielding dog) i somehow remember with emotions like trip and that althougth i never have taken any drugs.
report
It does suck that Acevedo isn’t doing Jackie’s voice, but the video does sell me on the rest of the game.
report
@Felixader: MDK2? :D
report
Who cares about Avocado! Patton’s back!
report
I enjoyed the first kitten video on the Internet, and this seems like a worthy sequel.
report
I hope it’s Mike Patton as the Darkness again. He was great. :)
report
I predict that in the future every single videogame protaganist shall be voiced by nolan north
report
That kitten looks like consolified rubbish, I can tell by the pixels.
report
The first was a lot of fun, left on a bit of a cliff hanger as well.
It’s a shame it’s not in the hands of the same developer but the first game wasn’t perfect so who’s to say they can’t make a better game?
report
Wait, so… someone nailed a cat to a door?
report
Looks quite good :)
report
But… how do I control four hands if I only have two of my own? Do I need to get a chum over to be able to play this game?
report
L1 R1
L2 R2
report
That would actually be pure genius: Coop game in one character. It would also reflect the difficulty you might have to control the darkness, to communicate with it, as well as it’s independance.
report
What are those L1 R1 you are talking about? I can’t seem to find these buttons ON MY PC’S KEYBOARD.
report
I came for the kitten.
I did not leave disappointed.
report
Jackie Chan? )
report
Digital extremes is developing it so it should be pretty good on the PC.
report
Cats are evil, selfish and unloyal creatures.
report
Glad to see you’ve picked up Boingboing’s tradition of Unicorn Chasers.
report
cel-shaded… hmm interesting. The first one was great so high hopes for this!
