Rock of Ages is a game RPS has been terribly excited about for quite some time. Why? Well, because it’s about rolling a giant, apparently sentient and sadistic boulder through art, history and the history of art, with graphics by someone doing a very convincing Terry Gilliam impression. VIDEOGAMES!
Our desperate anticipation for this next game from the Zeno Clash madmen should soon be over – Rock of Ages lands in August. Well, August 31, which is basically September, but the important thing is it’s only ten weeks until I can fire a massive rock out of a cannon at the groin of Michelangelo’s David. Joystiq reckons it should cost between $10 and $15.

I find it wonderful that I’m building my first proper beastie gaming computer in years about a week before this comes out, so this will probably be the first new game I try on it, hah. I’m smiling. Smiling like a boulder.

it doesn’t seem possible that this will be bad.

This is the game I’m most excited about this year. It just looks so much fun, and I loved the weirdness of ZenoClash.
Some might even say it looks Marble-ous.

This game is going to rock.

I feel compelled to mirror your sediments.

Stop with this boulder-dash we need to play it before we can judge it.

So long as it doesn’t get a slateing, I shale be pre-ordering I think.

These guys made Zeno Clash ,which is one of my favourite games , can’t wait.
13/06/2011 at 10:48 Fedora says:
I’m really looking forward to this game, too, always willing to try something different and Zeno Clash was certainly different. So I dunno if this is frowned upon or not – I just registered an account so I could point out what I HOPE was a typo because of course the genius’ name is Gilliam, not Gillian.
13/06/2011 at 13:50 Chris D says:
It’s an RPS tradition that people whose last name starts with Gill are basically interchangeable.
13/06/2011 at 11:26 Bhazor says:
If this is half as fun as Igneous I’m sold.
13/06/2011 at 11:32 The Hammer says:
Yeah, really looking forward to this. Ace Team do the BEST art styles, and the game itself looks tremendous, batshit fun to play. I can’t wait to get all sentient and sadist on history’s arse.
13/06/2011 at 12:00 Nehacoo says:
While this game does look interesting I’m more interested in ACE finishing this so they can get back to making a sequel to Zeno Clash, to be honest.

The face on the rock looks a lot like the mona lisa, but maybe I’m seeing things.

is it/she smiling or just a trick of the light?
13/06/2011 at 17:08 Arcturan Megadonkey says:

Thanks for reminding me that I only have 10 weeks of summer boating left and I haven’t even launched this season yet! Partially this is the Witcher 2′s fault.

That seems abnormally inexpensive. Good on them.
