Multiplay have given us a Battlefield: Bad Company 2 server to use while we warm up for Battlefield 3. It’s live now. Join me! You’ll probably need to search for it in the server browser, so the full name is Multiplay :: Rock, Paper, Shotgun UK Server. I believe the search is case sensitive.
Join our Steam group for notifications of when we’re playing this and other games.

That seems about standard for BC2, the pings are always massively elevated. I’m in the UK and connect to UK and Europe servers and never get pings lower than 100.

A ping of 200 is completely normal, and the game runs fine.
I think it calculates it somewhat differently than most things.

BFBC2 displays latency, rather than ping – meaning that the number measured is the time taken for the entire round trip (there and back) rather than just there. Divide by 2 (approximately) to obtain your real ping value.

Well, the ping that is showed in the server browser is the ‘real’ ping, I believe, and in the actual game you get highly inflated number that is not representative of anything. And I get 100 in the browser. I *can* play, but that is a pretty heavy delay for a fast-paced FPS.

I was playing the other night and managed to tag a guy with a flare who was sniping about 4000 miles away. Got a lock and sent a rocket soaring straight up into the sky and then sat back as it took about 4 seconds to traverse the map and kill this guy in his little hidyhole. What do i get in return for this? “CG noob, go fuck yrself”.
The resurrection of the RPS server cannot come quick enough frankly.

For those of you having trouble finding the server, go to Multiplayer > Server Browser and in the search box on the right type ‘Multiplay’ then Search. It will be displayed in the results list – about half way down for me. Remember that it’s case sensitive.
Make sure you’re not filtering the results to exclude Full servers, as it’s pretty popular tonight!
