Alas, my headline puns can never beat Quinns’. But never mind that. Panzer Corps, Slitherine’s homage to hexagonal, historical Herr Hitler simulator Panzer General, is due to be released July 11, it’s been revealed. At this point I would like to apologise for the absurd amount of H in the preceding sentence. Would you like some quite dull-looking but probably very unrepresentative screenshots? Go on. There’s tanks.

That’s all the shots of tanks for now. Thanks, tanks. Thanks.
Uh.

Ten out of ten? That’s a bit much.
I’d give it a nein.

That’s a quality pun that I surely hope to add to my endsig. – Also: Does anybody know if this game (like it predecessor) will include the possibility to acquire some lebensraum in bosten?

How about all that alliteration of H? More like Hitlitteration…

See, I’d quite like something like this, reminds me of the old Battle Isle games (available over on GOG.com, I know), but then I noticed it’s on Matrix Games’ site, which instantly means it’s probably going to be way outside my personal budget limits for a game like this.
Will there be a demo, at least? I might just go and buy Historyline 1914-1918 off GOG.com instead… ;)
23/06/2011 at 15:40 Kakrafoon says:
I participated in the beta. This thing is as faithful a recreation of the old Panzer General 1 as you can get, but better! I hope they will stay reasonable with the price. Ten Eurobucks, maybe?
23/06/2011 at 15:56 Warth0g says:
I’m absolutely gagging to play a wargame if only I could find one that sacrifices a certain amount of realism for simplicity. Most of the likes of the Matrix games etc seem far too complicated and turn me off pretty quickly. Is this likely to be easier to pick up and play I wonder?
23/06/2011 at 16:25 skurmedel says:
It looks like a Panzer Generals inspired game, so I don’t think you’ll have to calculate flank armour penetration values by hand. It would be nice with a demo though.
23/06/2011 at 16:08 LazerBeast says:
I want this, hopefully Matrix doesn’t charge $40 or more for it though.
23/06/2011 at 16:17 Zeewolf says:
I’m also interested. Seems like a perfect game for me. I loved Panzer General, but I’m not some kind of super-brained grognard. So as long as it’s about as complicated as PG I’ll probably be fine with it. And it’s been far too long since I played a decent turn based strategy game.
23/06/2011 at 17:27 RyuRanX says:
Day one buy. The game got a nice 86% score from 4players.de.

No random maps?
23/06/2011 at 17:43 oatish says:
It does indeed look like a must-purchase kind of a game. Since PG2 is on GoG for dollars, this will have to stand on its’ own and not just be a rehashed PG with better textures.
Since we are starved for the pretzels / beer wargames these days, I guess I will move on this one once the word rolls in after release.
23/06/2011 at 18:26 DK says:
Sprites, but yeah – if they pull their heads out of their behinds and don’t price this as Matrix usually does it’ll sell like hot cakes (although not as well as Hot Cakes you can get through Steam *hint*).
Of course knowing them it’ll cost 40 eurobucks and far too few will buy it.
23/06/2011 at 18:00 Fumarole says:
My question is this: what will this bring to the table that Open General doesn’t already do for free?

I was about to say “Panzer General, is that you?” and then started reading the text that pretty much said that.
