Well then no problem – at least for fifteen of you – because Tripwire have sent us some keys to give away. Hooray! What you need to do is email us at this address with the reason why you are the best candidate for entering a nightmare freakshow armed with dangerous firearms. Please make sure to read this, it’s the competition rules thing. Oh and I am just setting up an RPS Killing Floor server. Details to follow.

Can we assume this is another hint that the Steam Summer Sale is coming this week (Thursday/Friday 6pm UK??)
29/06/2011 at 16:58 Enikuo says:
Yes. I like assuming that. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

I’ve been operating hopefully under that assumption, even though I have yet to play 90% of the games I bought during that last summer sale… curse you Steam and your too-cheap-to-pass-up sales.

Gobless’ all y’alls. This game is fun as hell.

so the summer thing starts tomorrow then, reinstalling now. btw, I know the left for dead crowd are notorious for the way they kick people without one but how does this community act towards people without a mic? not that I don’t have one but its not very good and a pain to use.

I’ve never had problems playing without a mic, and to my experience, mics aren’t that popular in KF, at least not many people have used them.
29/06/2011 at 17:15 Askeladd says:
On =< Hard servers its not required. Even on higher difficulties you wont find many that use it.
The good thing about KF is you will get a feeling for everything if you know the map, the "what spawns this round" and your team isnt full of noobs.
When I'm playing I look at what class is beeing played, how good they play it and what level they are in that class, that tells me how likely we will survive. Numerous rounds on public servers have shown me that at least one sharpshooter is required for the highest chance to beat the map.
5 Guys with flamethrowers will meet problems at some time.

I have three friends I constantly play with, and we always talk through Skype. We rarely, if ever, encounter people with microphones.
The first time any of us did, it was the first time for all of us and there was a mad scramble to find the voicechat button.

If you don’t already have this game it is your duty to apply for this competition as it’s well good. I’ve played it loads & would be playing it more if I could convince my friends to leave TF2 alone for a while.
Jim you’ll probably be wanting the Anti-Blocker mutator on the server otherwise it’s easy to grief people. Have a look at the whitelisted mutators thread in the official forums it should be listed at the top (why it isn’t a standard part of the game I don’t know).

What Askeladd said.
Around 50% of the servers that you go on no one will have a mic. The beauty of the game is that most people automatically know to stick together, it’s almost a natural instinct when playing the game. Some of the level 6 players will go lone wolf on medium/hard difficulty, but doing so in waves after 4 or 5 is almost impossible.
You are going to get your ass handed to you more often than not starting out, so choose a class that is fun that you can get your feet wet in like support specialist, commando, or sharp shooter. I picked sharp shooter as my first class to reach level six with; it’s probably my favorite because it requires the most accuracy to shoot the heads of zeds.

One day steam will let me give away games I don’t want. This is easily one of the worst games I have ever bought, but still, I feel bad that no-one else can play my spurned copy – alas!1 day of play and left to rot, what a fate for a game.

@Fuggles: one instance of play & you’ve decided that one of the greatest horror/survival FPSs out there is ‘one of the worst games you’ve ever bought’?

Any chance of hearing the results of this compo? ‘Cause only see, I assumed the compo was meant to time in with the Killing Floor Summer event and that’s been on the go for several days now…
