Flying Wild Hog’s PC Shooter Is… Um

By John Walker on June 30th, 2011 at 4:15 pm.

It really does look pretty stunning. Whatever it is.

It’s a bit confusing when someone sends you a screenshot of an “unannounced” game. I’d say sending in-game pictures of it is pretty much announcing. And that game is, er, oh okay. The title hasn’t been announced yet. This is what we call in the trade, “stupid”. What we do know is that it’s a PC only shooter from new Polish developers Flying Wild Hog. And we’re promised that the shot is entirely in-game, and built with their own-made engine. Which is looking seriously impressive. We understand that there will be a name for this soon, and indeed we should be getting our hands on a copy of whatever it might be. So in the meantime, um, you’ve looked at a picture of a game that you can’t even know to remember you looked at. Sorry, I wasted your time.

I guess they’re trying to build an aura of mystery.

  2. N says:

Lol I thought this was from Blacklight actually…

    • Shuck says:

Looking at the picture in my feed it took me a while to realize I hadn’t already seen this picture the other day… oh dear.

    • Joe Duck says:

I was coming to the comments to say it looks exactly like Blacklight.
      Yay for art direction!

    • Stormbane says:

I skipped over this the first time because I thought it was Blacklight as well.

    • studenteternal says:

My first thought was another Prey 2 screenshot, but now that you mention it I can see the black light similarities. Not really the best first image to try to build a brand around is it.

  3. KGB says:

Did it come in a larger resolution?

Edit: Ah, now I can click it.

  4. Zelius says:

    Ehm… Deus Ex?

  5. Hmm-Hmm. says:

Yeah, me too. It’s uncanny, really.

-edit- Gah, that was meant to be a response to Joe Duck’s comment.

  6. KauhuK says:

A bit cyberpunkish style there but while it looks good it’s not that impressive. Then again it’s just one screenshot.

  7. Shodex says:

    Well… it’s pretty.

  8. Echo Black says:

“Flying Wild Hog”? They’re trying to dethrone “People Can Fly” for zaniest-named polish softhouse

  9. Ian says:

For the purposes of this thread, and future RPS articles until it has a name, I suggest we call it “Teh Mansh00tz.”

  10. ResonanceCascade says:

Hey there good lookin’, you got a name?

  11. jerkstoresup says:

I can’t wait for, uh, that!

  12. zergrush says:

I’ll be disappointed if it’s not possible to get in that live jpg girls place.

  13. Tei says:

Seems a distopian future where nanobots have manage to get the right to vote. And humans have lost the votation for building height limits, use of cars inside the city, and others.
But humans are not happy, and resort to weapons to fight against democracy.

  14. Anarki says:

    Needs more Blade Runner

  15. JerreyRough says:

Its got a robot “toy”! Oh snap!

  16. Jad says:

You know how many bands have an eponymous debut album, naming their first album after themselves? Well, Flying Wild Hog should just call this game “Flying Wild Hog”. Seems like a good enough name, right?

  17. Baboonanza says:

‘And we’re promised that the shot is entirely in-game, and built with their own-made engine.’
    Sounds like bug-city to me!

  18. Nero says:

So I just spent $299.99 reading this article.. Any chance of a refund?

  19. Ohle says:

Oh, you, Mr. Walker. See, we’re going to announce the game quite soon, but I convinced these fine Polish chaps to release a screenshot before other, not-so-exciting stuff like an official website and logo and all that jazz is actually ready. And now you turn it into some sort of groanfest on RPS. Aw. Sadfaced Tom, signing off.

  20. Lolo_Lolo says:

Lemme tell you this: scenes look way hotter, when projectiles cut the air and things start to blow or collapse :)

  21. innociv says:

    JPG GIRLS

  22. ZIGS says:

Speaking of Polish developers, any news on Afterfall: Insanity? Yes, I realize this is entirely off-topic

  23. airtekh says:

    Ooo purty.

  24. Bodminzer says:

Someone’s going to trip over that massive slinky in the road.

  25. PopeJamal says:

If this was some Triple-A dev house like Crytek or UBI, you’d be slobbering all over their man-parts. But because it’s a little dev house from Poland, you get all smarmy. Classy.

I guess they should just be happy that you even graced them with a story.

Or maybe it’s more of that British “humor” that us Americans just aren’t smart enough to understand.

  26. Danny says:

What the bloody hell is that *thing* with the ARMS on the road? Do we think it’s trying to kill us?

  27. DethonRells says:

In the future: Jumbo-trons will just be on buildings just because technology.

  28. Handsome Dead says:

blade runner was pretty cool film

  29. DeCi says:

Blade runner is my best guess.

  30. PiP999 says:

    “Sorry, I wasted your time.”

That’s impossible because my time is worthless.

  31. Shadow Aspect says:

Well, already there are 3-4 posts from the devs in here so that’s promising.

  32. Skusey says:

Stupid way of revealing your game, but “JPG Girls”? Awesome.

  33. Stellar Duck says:

I’m rereading Neuromancer at the moment, and thus I approve of this image. I’m looking forward to more information on this game.

    • Petethegoat says:

      Me too! Fist bump!
I’m pretty interested in this. I really hope they play to their strengths of being an obscure Polish dev, and make something new and exciting.

  34. wazups2x says:

    PC exclusive. Nice!

  35. ColOfNature says:

Isn’t that Future City D4 again? Their Tourist Board deserves a raise.

  36. Gaff says:

It looks like Neocron crossed with Westwood’s Blade Runner game, with maybe a little Deus Ex thrown in for good measure.

One to watch I think. Those Poles are coming up with some good shooters (Painkiller, Bulletstorm).

  37. Wulf says:

    The screen really is ubiquitous.
