There’s going to be more Battlefield-related showing off from EA later, I think, but they’ve already put out a fairly impressive trailer, which you can see below. It’s out October 25th, and there will be a beta in September.

Limbo Coming To PC? Almost Certainly!
By Jim Rossignol on June 6th, 2011.

IndieGames has, thanks to NeoGaf’s wily residents, picked up the scent of spooky silhouetted platformer Limbo making its way to PC. Although the project has not been confirmed for PC, this link takes you to the Limbo trailer on your Steam client. I’d expect an official announcement on this fairly soon!
Skyrim: Giant Carried Off By Dragon
By Jim Rossignol on June 6th, 2011.

Man, I guess some of you lot saw that on the E3 livestream, but that was fairly awesome. The player fighting with a giant, which was then carried off and dropped to Earth by a Dragon. Spectacular. Other stuff: factions/guild returning, “three hundred hours” of game. And it sounds like you will be able to talk to the dragons. Or some of them, anyway. Great stuff.
Also: mammoths! Sorry, but I am nerding pretty heavily over here. Also scheduling some announcements for later. One of them is bananas (about 11:30 tonight UK time.)
Not-Quite-LiveBlog: The Microsoft Conference
By Alec Meer on June 6th, 2011.

EDIT: FINISHED! EA liveblogging – actually live from LA – from 8, tune in then.
H! I’m not in LA. I’m in Brighton. It’s much nicer here. I have a glass of beer in my hand and a cat sat next to me. Aw. It also means I have a much better view of the Microsoft press conference than anyone at the Microsoft press conference, because I’m watching a live-streaming video of it from the comfort of my own home. Granted, it’s primarily an Xbox-centric conference, but stuff like Skyrim, Bioshock Infinite and Mass Effect 3 should be showing up in it, so I shall watch them then say things about them RIGHT HERE. Yes!
Edit – now with proper liveblogging software. Simply watch below to see what I say LIVEish – no refreshing required. Editedit – It’s over. See the whole horrorshow below.

Al Lowe Loves Leisure Suit Larry Again
By Alec Meer on June 6th, 2011.

Poor old Leisure Suit Larry has been treated like a common criminal in recent years. Literally a criminal, performing acts of sexual harassment far beyond humour and well into horror. Fortunately, original series creator Al Lowe is returning to hopefully steer the hapless wannabe sex pest back on track, having arranged a rerelease of the first game, Leisure Suit Larry In The Land Of The Lounge Lizards for modern devices. Save him, Al. Save him from hell itself.

E3 2011 Secret Diary: Sunday Part 2
By John Walker on June 6th, 2011.

I’m in America. Have you heard of America? It’s a big country in the Atlantic where the locals ride electronic horses in streets lined with sidewalks. And this week America has turned over all its resources to running the fourth annual E3 County Fair. All the residents are mucking in, helping set up a booth, hand out a leaflet, or wallpaper the side of a skyscraper with an advert for Tekken 2. It’s all go here.
Dead Island’s Lively Trailer
By Alec Meer on June 6th, 2011.

Poor old Dead Island – it must be pretty stressful, putting out any new trailer after the frenzy around that one. Especially as they now need to show off the actual game, rather than just a conceptual short film. The E3 trailer has several elements in common with the CGI weepfest, notably slow motion, the music and a few snippets of dialogue to suggest emotional as well as gory horror, but all told I’m preeeeeeeetty sure we’re looking at an all-out carnival of death.

Blacklight Retribution Is Foxtrot Two Papa
By Jim Rossignol on June 6th, 2011.

Zombie Studio’s shooter Blacklight Tango Down didn’t go down particularly well with us. We did shrugging and said “s’ahright, spose…”, but our indifference has not defeated it because it’s back, BACK this year with a fresh incarnation of Unreal-powered near-future gun action: Blacklight Retribution. And there are robots! Slidey rocket-propelled crazybots, if this trailer is to be believed, which is should be, as it is footage from the game. The game will be free-to-play and will be part of Perfect World’s increasingly impressive-looking line-up of free online titles. Go take a look at this and then make that quiet “ahrm” noise you make when you are considering whether something will actually be any good.
That’s it, yeah.

Edge Of Time: Spider-Mens 2
By Alec Meer on June 6th, 2011.

The last Activision Spider-Man game, Shattered Dimensions, in theory arrived on PC some months after the console version, but it appeared no bugger could actually find it. Even now, I can’t seem to spy anywhere online selling it apart from some place in Germany. Hope you’re enjoying it, Germans. Keeping it all to yourself and that. Bah.
Nonetheless, the follow-up to the multi-dimensional action-manthumper is apparently due a Windows release too. Out of E3 come the promotional materials, and with great (or at least adequate) promotional materials means great (or at least adequate) posting. By which I mean “a video trailer may be watched below.”

FIFA 12: Foot-To-Ball Is Real
By Jim Rossignol on June 6th, 2011.

In years gone by our top scientists, professional experts, and visionary cosmologists believed that games could only be used to model and simulate men getting shot. At a stretch the technology could be applied to zombies getting shot, or even man-like robots, but the basic laws of nature suggested that ultimately it was the fate of computer game systems to help us see men being machinegunned dead in their thousands of millions. In 2011, of course, science has vindicated our hope that one day it might also portray men getting stabbed and – in rare, exquisite instances of intense joy – men playing together on a field. Yes. Look at them play. Beautiful, beautiful. It gives me a sense of peace.
Foot-to-ball in videogames is a reality, people. And the world is more wonderful for it. Get used to it. And watch the new Electronic Artball Number 12 video, which I’ve posted below.
