Monaco! There’s a game I’m very excited about. Hopefully we’ll have a ton to say about it very soon. Meantime, creator Andy Schatz is working on enfleshening his co-op, semi-free-form heist game, and one thing he’s decided upon is making sure any hacking language and terminology used in it (i.e. when a character is hacking an in-game computer) is relatively convincing. That’s where you come in.
Get thee to this Google doc, and add useful, believable, clever phrases that a computer in the process of being hacked would be likely to display on its screen. Important proviso: “If you are not a coder or command line user, but you want to contribute jokes, please enclose your joke in [joke] so we can translate to pseudocode.” In other words, don’t screw the whole thing up for everyone else with witless punnery for the sake of it.
The first Doc has hit the editing limit, but there are links to new ones within it.

sh -c ‘sleep 36000 && mplayer http://lulz.dd/songs/never_gonna_give_you_up.mp3‘
sounds legit.

This is great! A little bit community integration for once. Also im really looking forward to this game for quite some time now, hope they finish it soon.

or: yes OPTION
Repeatedly output a line with all specified STRING(s), or `y'.
Huh, I learn new bash-fu every day. Thanks, LionsPhil.

Kind of surprised not to see the old crowd-pleaser

I added a “the quick brown fox” joke earlier today. :)

Is there any estimated release date for this badboy? Seems to have been floating around for ages
report
Yay, Monaco. It sounds brilliant, but so far the main point of it seems to have been for people to gloat about having been in the elite group that actually played it. *glares at IGF*
report
Yeah, it’s almost as bad as Nidhogg in that respect.
report
I twitt them and SpyParty weekly to remind them that expos and stuff are great but they should actually release their games before the end of days.
I mean, how much can you polish Nidhogg?
report
Ah, well everyone who came to the RPS north meet (ish) has played Nidhogg. It’s good, but the controls are a little difficult.
report
Yeah. I think that every article about Monaco or Niddhog should be accompanied by a response from the developer as to why the damn thing isn’t out already.
report
Ouch… Nidhogg.
It still hurts.
report
I don’t see the point of releasing Nidhogg anymore. If it had been released earlier, it could have rode the hype to fame and fortune. Release it now, and people will say it wasn’t worth the wait and it will be forgotten in about five minutes.
report
I think it should just keep existing in a kind of legendary state. Where some people will insist it exists and that it’s great, but sceptics doubt them and think it’s all just a big scam.
report
So, you’re going to load a bunch of tools on the target or a system linked to it then wander off down the pub while they do their stuff?

This want a brilliant game in 2001, and collected all the prizes for Indie games and two novel prizes. But no one has played it, except the judges. Is like a secret substance that make everyone supersecretive and awesome. Or maybe a photo of the hypnotoad that actually works. Will this game even release for the PC?
report
2001? I hope this is a typo. They won the grand prize in 2010s IGF if this [ http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2010/03/12/igf-winners-monacos-gamble-pays-off/ ] is anything to go by. It also says on the offical site that: ” It will be on the PC and at least one console”.
report
“I hope this is a typo”
.. obviously it is?

Played Monaco at Pax, it’s fun and clever in it’s simplicity, but it’s visually way too busy, and seems to be lacking a little something. Still fun enough to buy, but after playing it a few times, it just feels a little shallow.

I got me the best decker in c-space, so ram it Stark. I can jack in anytime, and no disgrunt can bit my soulbox.
