Have you encountered a Wasteland Angel? It’s a new indie action game that now has a demo coming down from heaven, which teaches you an important life lesson, and then slowly walks away toward the horizon. Or indeed lets you frantically zoom a car around, defending towns from enemy invading automobiles. I’ve no idea what the demo includes, because for some reason Steam is refusing to let me download it. However, I’ve been playing the real thing, and I can copy the information from this here press release! Ladies and gentlemen: games journalism.

We’ve already had a slight glimpse at Namco Bandai’s upcoming Ridge Racer Reboot by way of a fairly flashy trailer, but now, courtesy of automotive-specialists VVV Gamer, here’s some fresh (off screen) footage showing what a pair of races in the new Ridge Racer might look like. Monaco! There’s a game I’m very excited about. Hopefully we’ll have a ton to say about it very soon. Meantime, creator Andy Schatz is working on enfleshening his co-op, semi-free-form heist game, and one thing he’s decided upon is making sure any hacking language and terminology used in it (i.e. when a character is hacking an in-game computer) is relatively convincing. That’s where you come in.

Have you heard of Total War Shogun 2? I think it’s a rip-off of that new Paradox game, but with bigger battles. Will Porter played the latest DLC for it – Rise Of The Samurai – for us a couple of weeks back, and now there’s the first trailer for the DLC, which I’ve hidden from enemies below.

This isn’t going to help. More likely quite the opposite, in fact. But, for the record, here’s Starbreeze’s claimed explanation for why they’ve so controversially made revered RTS/RTT/whatevs Syndicate into an adrenalised FPS.
Convinced? Me, not so much.

Part 2 of Croteam/Devolver Digital’s crazed Serious Sam 3: BFE Helpline videos is here! And we’re going to post it even though we posted the last one like five minutes ago or something! Because it’s very funny! And it contains the much-speculated-upon answer to how one man can carry so many cannonballs! Have a good evening!

Call of Juarez: The Cartel moves the series into a modern setting and fills it with a cast of foul-mouthed gangsters and drug dealers. There are still guns though, and sometimes people say ‘outlaw’. I was sceptical about the move but willing to give it a shot. Then Ubisoft delayed the PC release. Maybe they were doing us a favour? After playing the game from its bloody beginning to its bloody end, I am fully equipped to tell you Wot I Think.

Edmund McMillen’s groovy looking roguelike thing – The Binding Of Isaac – is due out on Steam in the next two weeks, so it’s about time he gave us a heads up of what we might expect. Fortunately, he has: Read the rest of this entry »

Why can't hammers ever just talk things through?

You may remember that snuck into EA’s Gamescom presentation was the news that there was to be a spin-off from their MMO, Warhammer Online, called Wrath Of Heroes. Focusing on three-sided arena battles, it’s a free-to-play idea with its own look and feel. Needing to know more, we sent raving reporter, Dan Gril, to go take a look.

I’ve been waiting for the Minecraft 1.8 update for a long time. I want all this adventure stuff in my Minecraft now, damn it. Especially those creepy Endermen. Well, lucky me because the update is out! Sort of. While it wasn’t due for an official release yet, a version was leaked by one of the testing groups. The pre-release version has now been officially sanctioned, provided it’s downloaded from this link here. Play the game, and find bugs and report them. It’s like a job that’s fun. Let us know what you discover and if it seems like it’s been worth the wait. And bear in mind, I won’t get to play this for at least another couple of days, so your tales of adventure could nourish me. Go forth!

You’ve read, potentially, thousands of words about the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, but you probably haven’t been able to see all that much of it yourself. That is because you are bad, and naughty, and not to be trusted. That’s also why we locked you in that dank cellar for so long. Now you’re too malnourished to attack us anymore, we can sit you down and show you some 20 minutes of the game in safety. Keep those hands where we can see them, and do stop trying to gnaw through your gag.
