Bang To Bytes: Explodemon!

By Adam Smith on November 4th, 2011 at 1:57 pm.

My eyes are failing. For a moment, I thought he was flipping the bird at the dark Satanic mills

Deliberate spontaneous combustion would be an incredibly useful tool, provided one could survive the ensuing explosion and that it caused significant propulsion in a direction of choice. Jolly good news for the star of Explodemon! who has such powers and is therefore able to navigate the obstacle-laden levels in which he finds himself. The game is available now, after a prolonged vacation in PSN country, and looks like a cross between Megaman and Splosion Man. There’s an interesting piece on the latter similarity here, and a bright and boomy trailer below.

I hear good things about the PSN version and it looks like there’s enough variety to keep things interesting. The price is £7.99 and you can buy direct from the developers site, Impulse and Gamersgate.

Back in the day, the only things that exploded were barrels, I’m sure of it. And they were clearly painted to communicate their function. Now protagonists are at it? World gone mad.

    Looks fun.

I take it this is the game the Splosion Man people got upset about? Doesn’t look THAT similar tbh – looks to have more ‘combat’ and less’ platforming’ – it also seems a bit less charming perhaps…

Orphaned – at my age – deletion is too good for it…

  3. alundra says:

any similarity with the Mega Man (X) series is purely coincidental.

I hope it doesn’t blow in sales, it looks quite good.

Jeez, that dev diary entry just kills me. I think I’m experiencing sympathy pains.

Didn’t know his was out for PC too, the dev for this did a neat Wii ware title barely anyone knows about called Fluidity, there’s an LP over on SA cause really no one will see it otherwise.
