We do like a bit of balloon war, and few games do that as proficiently as the awesome Air Buccaneers HD. The game’s alpha version is now available on a but-and-try basis, and the work in progress has been documented in a recently video, which you can see below. It certainly looks fine. Mysteriously, devs Ludocraft promise something special for next week, but won’t say what it is. Hmm.

So you missed the RPS-hosted Air Buccaneers event? It was pretty awesome. The game does a good job at making you feel like you’re part of a ship crew. Then again I don’t know any other (air-)pirate ship simulators.

Unless I misunderstood the blurb on the download page, you can download the alpha and set up a free account to try it.
Purchasing a key allows your account to accrue xp whilst a key-less account will not.

In the original mod they had rockets attached to them, which they used to get to a high altitude to then glide from. I think they just haven’t added it to the game yet.

Maybe next video will actually be smooth, but I still don’t know what this game is. I saw a lot of WOW type running around without doing anything.

Just so you guys know, the Alpha is currently free and able to play without a hitch. I had a load of fun playing multiplayer, so go ahead and jump in whenever you feel like it.
