If there’s any justice in this dark, terrible world, PlanetSide 2 will be the last action videogame we ever need. If it can do what the first game did, fix the problems and escalate it to new places… then ooh. Ooh. I do fear what the post-COD ubiquity of ranking systems and unlocks might do to it, mind. This peek at ‘massive air combat’ certainly allays worries it’ll be a small-scale territory war at least, and demonstrates that PS2 intends to use the skies far more than its proud predecessor did.
Edit – okay, okay, this went up here recently. Sorry, I thought the last one was about soundtracks, because I am very stupid.
Needs more lush vegetation, but otherwise I am very happy with that. Until I realise that I’ll never be capable of flying on those things, so will likely spend the game being bombed to hell by pro-pilots as was by and large my Battlefield 2 experience. Still, scale and spectacle make a digi-war alright.

I think it’s very important to say how much we love Alec, in these difficult times.

1. That looks awesome.
2. This game will never run on a current gen console.
If it’s a success then it’s probably going to scare microsoft and sony into moving up their next gen plans.
Also, you posted this a couple of days ago you norberts.

It would be funny if Sony scared Sony.
28/05/2012 at 10:45 povu says:
3. It’s free to play with hopefully for the most part only cosmetic premium items. Score!
28/05/2012 at 10:57 sneetch says:
This game was never intended to run on a console so it won’t scare them into doing anything. I don’t think any MMO “scares” them.
28/05/2012 at 12:17 Mistabashi says:
I think you’re massively underestimating the scale of the console industry if you think one successful PC game is going to ‘scare’ them into pushing forward the schedule they’ve been working to for years. I mean, it’s not like this is going to outsell Call of Duty or similar franchises, the last CoD game sold 6.5 million units in the first 24 hours.

My only worry is that its free to play and regional restricted, which means I can’t play with buddies.
28/05/2012 at 10:58 tungstenHead says:
I’ve warmed up immensely to free to play in the last little bit. We still need to see exactly how SOE handles it here, but I don’t feel that it’s an inherent disadvantage these days.
But actual good news that you can enjoy rather than attempts at comforting with personal opinions: SOE and ProSiebenSat worked out a deal that will allow players to play across regions.
