The team of students at DigiPen who made spike-dodging, gravity-switching charmer A Flipping Good Time have another game on the way. Man VS The World places you in the muscular shoes of Man Lee Gunns, who then places himself into the metallic muscles of a fighter plane and shoots at everything else that exists. The world has declared war on him, you see, so he’s left with no choice. It looks like the sort of game that fills the screen with bullets and my stomach with knots of tension, but then Mr Gunns starts leaping from one plane to another even as they arrive on screen in formation, and then he starts clambering about as if he’s in a platform game, in the sky, surrounded by bullets. Trailed below.
Out next month and looking suitably intense.

Interesting concept, but it looks far too hard for me.

It’s Gaiares, turned bullet hell and given mouse aiming. I hate bullet hell games, but I love the other 2… I’m conflicted.

‘Bullet Hell’ implies spectacular death-blossoms of hundreds of shots which aren’t nearly as deadly as they look. At no point in that video were there more than about 10-15 bullets on screen, and most of htem were just placed as slow-moving obstacles.

Did … did you just watch the same video as me? Sheesh.
Anyway, the game looks awesome, that “hanging on mesh wall” mechanic brings me right back to Mario 3 (I think?), why has that not been used more? And the ship stealing too, I love that.
Congratulations to these guys for producing something non-standard and awesome-fun-looking, mostly by recombining old game mechanics.

I’m going to buy this and play it while listening to Dragonforce. And the whole time I’ll say, “WHOOOOAAA!”

I do like how the trailer for the Manly-Explosions-Plane-Punching-Shooter ends with the Waltz of the Flowers.
Nice concept though, hopefully it all gels together properly and doesn’t feel too mismatched.

I think this is highly unrealistic. I mean, who in the world would be crazy enough to declare war on someone named “Mann Lee Gunns”?

This looks like it’s locked and loaded with fun… It also really makes me sad that Jets n’ Guns Gold does not exist on Steam!

The capture mechanic reminds me of G-Darius, with a hint of Grand Theft Auto.

This trailer leaves me with many questions, such as “will there be explosions?”

Bear in mind that Brock Samson doesn’t use guns. I guess you’re looking for Arkham Asylum with blood.
