You, sir or madam, the one with the face; do you like to engage in social activity at but a moment’s notice? Perhaps you are pleased by the idea of meeting with readers of this fine periodical in an establishment well-suited to the enjoyment of light conversation and dark beverages? Or maybe you prefer your conversation dark and your beverage light. All can be arranged. Tomorrow, the RPS Social Club meet in London at their habitual haunt, The Blue Posts. All is discussed on the forums. The week after Rezzed occurs for more social interactions, and if those are both a bit too South, I may arrange a gathering in Manchester this summer provided there is demand for such shindiggery.

London? I guess I’ll have to be there in spirt then as astral projection is a bit out of my league.
29/06/2012 at 16:30 Tams80 says:
What’s it like being in a spirt?

Only any good if the spirit in question is Absinthe.

I’m a bit tempted to go along to this one, seeing as I probably won’t be able to make rezzed…

Will you be attempting to build a pyramid out of tables again? :P
29/06/2012 at 15:30 Terry Cavanagh says:
I think it went pretty well last time

Does the runes line have a meaning?
Like “the Hivermind is watching you fella” ??

They look like to me like one of the ‘futharks’ i.e. runic alphabets – so named because the first few characters are f, u, th, a, r, k – reflected in the middle. There are several though, as they varied across cultures and time periods, plus the tidied up/fictionalised ones such as Tolkien’s, and I don’t have enough levels in Runic to tell you which particular one that is…
29/06/2012 at 19:04 Njordsk says:
I know yeah, was just kind of rethorical anyway.
But from my knowledge only the old futhark has a “O”

Social? The only socializing I do is when I speak to myself in the mirror. “You sir are a handsome devil”.
“Yes, “Yes you really are”.

I’ll host one in Alaska
29/06/2012 at 15:33 Flimgoblin says:
ooh, damn, not sure I can make this.
Just on the “too south” part, lets have one in Bristol so it can be “too west” :)
29/06/2012 at 15:49 McCool says:
“Too west”, really? Bristol is smalltime. Let’s host it in Penzance

London is just that little bit too East for me.

Curses! If only I had paid attention to the forums as this was being planned earlier. Next time gents/gentlewomen.

Lawks-a-lordy, I’ll be there so I will.

Will there be a screen for SC2 on at all (bit of a barcarft/social club)?

I’ll be too busy being a smelly fart.
I’ve been hurt…
No but seriously, I live too far away. Have fun though!

This will likely depend on whether I’m sufficiently not hungover to face a bus journey!
29/06/2012 at 16:26 Ian says:
Manchester is still too South. :(
29/06/2012 at 16:34 Tams80 says:
An Edinburgh one perhaps?
29/06/2012 at 17:27 Ian says:
I’d consider that. Every so often on the forums there’s been talk of Edinburgh or Glasgow and a bunch of people go “Hmm, yes, maybe” and then nothing happens. We’ll need to kidnap a Hiveminder and force their attendance to get the ball rolling.

Any chance there will be something on Sunday?
If not, any recommendation on something to do on Sunday night in London?

Manchester would be perfect, and my reasonably-sized house would be happy to host such jollity. It even comes complete with all manner of gaming accoutrements, such as copies of Arkham Horror and Last Night on Earth. Oh, and port. Never forget the port…

Long time reader, first (well kind of) time poster… how fare these events?

That’s a bit too North-East for me, why is there never anything in Somerset, Devon, Cornwall or Wiltshire? Harrumph! Just because we’re sparsely populated.
29/06/2012 at 20:39 fiddlesticks says:
I’d like to go but at the moment I’ve got neither the time nor money for flying to London. Damn you, British people! I’ll just make my own social club! With blackjack and hookers!
29/06/2012 at 23:09 Gandaf007 says:
If I ever made it to London somehow to come to one of these, I’d imagine I’d just sit in a corner and stare at all of you.
There’s something about meeting people on the internet that sounds fun as Hell but I couldn’t overcome my awkwardness. Almost went to a reddit meet up…
I’m not fun =(

Heh, “blue posts” are what they call posts by Blizzard admins on the World of Warcraft forums.
