Hello, you. How have you prepared for the release of Mechwarrior Online? Anything? Nothing?! Well that’s a shame. Other people have been a bit more proactive, including this guy, who has built himself an entire mech cockpit for the experience, complete with surround sound and triple 28″ monitors. Video and impressive image below for you pop your eyes at.
It looks like this:

And the chap responsible explains it with a video:
Crazy. Amazing. Crazy amazing.

Would be an awesome Falcon 4 setup as well.
24/07/2012 at 19:47 HothMonster says:
I can think of little that wouldn’t be awesome for.
25/07/2012 at 11:39 belgand says:
Sex. The keyboard and pedals would get in the way.
25/07/2012 at 12:45 SandmanXC says:
But.. So many joysticks!

This is soo frikken awesome. I just mailed this vid to my fiance, this is what she can get me as a wedding gift.

I would give anything to play Zork on that rig.
24/07/2012 at 22:39 Dreforian says:
Clearly the most immersive adventure one could ever embark upon!
24/07/2012 at 19:22 DrGruu says:
That makes me want to mech a cabin myself.
But i have too much sense or not enough money.
24/07/2012 at 19:38 nearly says:
don’t be such a warrior, I’m sure it’s within the budget of a doctor such as yourself

Cramazing. Amazry.
24/07/2012 at 19:42 Askeladd says:
Where’s the emergency eject button that catapults you to safety in a moment of random wife aggro?
24/07/2012 at 21:20 WhiteRabbit44 says:
Whoa, you actually think somebody that has a nerd level high enough to make this is married? My wife’s a gamer, and if I showed this to her, she would just laugh, then say, “wait, are you serious?”
That being said, I WANT ONE.
25/07/2012 at 00:40 arccos says:
I assume he is married, because he was concerned about ruining the Pergo floor behind the cockpit. Anyone that would build the ‘pit would have his priorities straight and not care about the floor. But his wife would.
24/07/2012 at 23:55 Askeladd says:
Maybe he hid his true nerd-self so he could marry a fine women only to find himself to wake up of that dream one day. Yes, it happens everyday.
24/07/2012 at 19:46 Brun says:
Just noticed a major design oversight: Unless it appears in the video (which I haven’t watched) he forgot to add cup-holders to his setup.
25/07/2012 at 00:43 Stromko says:
I was just about to say the same thing. *high fives*
24/08/2012 at 21:20 Ragnar says:
You can’t be reaching for cups in the middle of battle! That’s why I’m sure he’s got a bite valve hooked up to the hydration reservoir built into the chair. Just fill it up from the kegerator / keezer tap before the start of the gaming session, and he’s good to go. It’s what I would do.
24/07/2012 at 19:50 JB says:
I love the addition of the hula-girl. Vital mech accessory =)
24/07/2012 at 20:06 grundus says:
His certainly puts mine (http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/1287/imagejyr.jpg) to shame, but I suspect mine was cheaper! I’m adding an X52 Pro to this sooner or later and maybe in a couple of years another 680 and 3x1080p monitors instead of 1680×1050. Oh and a keyboard and mouse shelf.
24/07/2012 at 20:53 DogKiller says:
I like the cutaway art on your screens. Where did you get those from?
24/07/2012 at 20:56 N says:
Probably stuff made by Inomoto: http://www.automotiveillustrations.com/illustrators/automotive-illustrator-inomoto.html
24/07/2012 at 20:13 Lagwolf says:
This guy has got to be an architect or some sort of designer or he should be… bloody amazing really.
24/07/2012 at 20:20 Arglebargle says:
Sometimes fanatical obsession can be so cool…..
24/07/2012 at 20:29 LionsPhil says:
Want.
24/07/2012 at 21:21 Vorphalack says:
I can live without the triple monitor, peddles, double joystick and hula girl, but i’d kill for that ceiling mounted air conditioning.
24/07/2012 at 21:32 PoulWrist says:
I wish I had that :(
24/07/2012 at 21:33 motherpuncher says:
This is great. I have always wanted to convert a walk-in closet into a very cozy gaming room. I love that the chair and door work on a rail system.
24/07/2012 at 22:06 scaryeric says:
I was actually thinkIng about how something like this would be cool for EVE while I was watching the alliance tournaments. Except without the goo from the fiction. Can do without sitting in goo.
25/07/2012 at 09:43 Max Ursa says:
sit there long enough and you make your own goo
24/07/2012 at 22:10 BOTA49 says:
Needs more Hula girl!
24/07/2012 at 22:24 Solidstate89 says:
Goes through all of that and he can’t even get himself some decent IPS/PLS monitors. I can see the color shift and backlight bleeding from here/
25/07/2012 at 02:50 Tams80 says:
You didn’t read the source did you? XD
24/07/2012 at 23:48 Reapy says:
Fire hazard? You really lock yourself in there the way it seals lol. I don’t know if I would want to take myself away from my family that much into something.
Either way that is sweet as hell and I almost would want to build one for the joy of having done it. The addition of all the little switchs and stuff is pretty cool and I think adds a ton. He needs to somehow work in a slide out steel battalion controller somehow.
Also maybe build in a tablet set up, there are a few apps that link into sims that will show instrumentation for you, which would be a pretty cool in there.
