Hello, you. How have you prepared for the release of Mechwarrior Online? Anything? Nothing?! Well that’s a shame. Other people have been a bit more proactive, including this guy, who has built himself an entire mech cockpit for the experience, complete with surround sound and triple 28″ monitors. Video and impressive image below for you pop your eyes at.

      Whoa, you actually think somebody that has a nerd level high enough to make this is married? My wife’s a gamer, and if I showed this to her, she would just laugh, then say, “wait, are you serious?”

        I assume he is married, because he was concerned about ruining the Pergo floor behind the cockpit. Anyone that would build the ‘pit would have his priorities straight and not care about the floor. But his wife would.

    Just noticed a major design oversight: Unless it appears in the video (which I haven’t watched) he forgot to add cup-holders to his setup.

        You can’t be reaching for cups in the middle of battle! That’s why I’m sure he’s got a bite valve hooked up to the hydration reservoir built into the chair. Just fill it up from the kegerator / keezer tap before the start of the gaming session, and he’s good to go. It’s what I would do.

    His certainly puts mine (http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/1287/imagejyr.jpg) to shame, but I suspect mine was cheaper! I’m adding an X52 Pro to this sooner or later and maybe in a couple of years another 680 and 3x1080p monitors instead of 1680×1050. Oh and a keyboard and mouse shelf.

    I can live without the triple monitor, peddles, double joystick and hula girl, but i’d kill for that ceiling mounted air conditioning.

    This is great. I have always wanted to convert a walk-in closet into a very cozy gaming room. I love that the chair and door work on a rail system.

    I was actually thinkIng about how something like this would be cool for EVE while I was watching the alliance tournaments. Except without the goo from the fiction. Can do without sitting in goo.

    Fire hazard? You really lock yourself in there the way it seals lol. I don’t know if I would want to take myself away from my family that much into something.

    Either way that is sweet as hell and I almost would want to build one for the joy of having done it. The addition of all the little switchs and stuff is pretty cool and I think adds a ton. He needs to somehow work in a slide out steel battalion controller somehow.

    Also maybe build in a tablet set up, there are a few apps that link into sims that will show instrumentation for you, which would be a pretty cool in there.
