I wonder what it’s like being the Master of a Broken World. Probably quite difficult I’d imagine, but some folk would probably argue it’s better than serving in a fully functioning world. Snowbird are offering a chance to find out how you’d cope as just such a master with their upcoming strategy game, Eador: Masters of the Broken World. The world has been shattered and there are now separate shards of land scattered through the skies, which makes the setting look a bit like Bastion. But the game itself is apparently more like Age of Wonders as the gameplay overview video below communicates quite clearly. The video has been released to coincide with the game’s presence on Greenlight. Take a look.
It’s certainly my sort of thing and hopefully we’ll have more information soon. Here’s the Greenlight page.

There has been a thread here in the RPS forums about it for a while now, and the dev has been supplying plenty of info and even some screenies. Looking pretty good!

Ooooo, looks interesting! Since my hopes for Warlock:Master of the Arcane being as good as MoM were dashed, perhaps this one will be a contender instead.
13/09/2012 at 21:04 BurningPet says:
From the looks and descriptions i think it will be more of a Age of Wonders than MoM

In-depth explanation?

Well, it has been a pretty long time since i played both, but from what i recall, MoM was more about moving armies while AoW was about smaller squads. MoM had a more emphasis on city management than AoW (although, perhaps masters of the broken world has the same emphasis). AoW felt more like a strategic adventure game, while MoM was more of a magical empire managing game. i might be utterly mistaken here, but i also recall MoM had much more over the top world spells.

Been waiting forever for this game, now it’s Steamruined. Heroes V it is then.

What a tragedy, you’ll be missed.

Down with this sort of person.
13/09/2012 at 21:54 Zeewolf says:
Why do you assume it’ll exclusively be sold on Steam (provided they even get past the red light)?
13/09/2012 at 22:04 SkittleDiddler says:
Since MythDorkana is on my blocklist, I have to assume he said something about Steam right?
13/09/2012 at 22:14 Kaiji says:
You figured that out from a response that says “Why do you assume it’ll exclusively be sold on Steam”?
You’d be a great detective.
14/09/2012 at 04:54 sassy says:
don’t need to be a great detective. I read his comment without looking at the name and knew exactly who said it.
13/09/2012 at 22:20 Sheng-ji says:
He basically said that even though he’s been waiting for the game forever, because they submitted it to green light, he’s not going to buy it now.
I’m sure the good readers of RPS can make up their own minds what consumer choices they want to make without criticising each other for what comes down to a matter of opinion, right guys?
14/09/2012 at 03:20 jrodman says:
Well, you have to admit that position is pretty silly. Even if spending much energy mocking it is too.
14/09/2012 at 07:10 Thermal Ions says:
Kind of defeats the purpose of blocking someone if you are then going to ask (or speculate) on what they’ve said.
14/09/2012 at 08:22 jrodman says:
What if your purpose is maximal sourness!?
13/09/2012 at 22:46 Imperium says:
No worries, it won’t be Steam exclusive. We’re going to release on as many places as we can.

My dishwasher’s playing up – does that count?

THIS WAS HUMOUR, IT DOES NOT REPRESENT MY TRUE ATTITUDE TOWARDS MEN
Lets not turn this into another sexism debate.
It does represent my true attitude towards my son though!
14/09/2012 at 04:56 sassy says:
That’s what sons are for. They are just cheap labor … except not cheap and very lazy
14/09/2012 at 07:16 Subject 706 says:
And when they’re young, YOU are the laborer doing the dirty work.
13/09/2012 at 22:09 Ghoulie says:
That looks really good, Warlock was a little too focused on combat for my taste.

Hope this can fill the void i’ve had in my gaming experience ever since i was done playing Heroes 3.
Definitely giving it my greenlight there.

From that video, it looks a bit overly-complex to me.
Or am I just simple-minded? >_>

You really want an answer? :)
14/09/2012 at 12:38 Didero says:
I set myself up for a reaction like that, didn’t I?
14/09/2012 at 14:44 OmniLol says:
This game was actually made a looong time ago. It’s an indie project completed by a single guy in, like, 7 years or smth
The original version has extremely simplified graphics and is entirely in Russian :)
It’s a mix between HoMM\original King’s Bounty and an rpg. I’d say it even resembles King of Dragon Pass somewhat. Good game, imho
