Yes, that’s a steambike. But to the point: boutique steampunk MMO City Of Steam is about to launch a series of beta events, and RPS readers can get easy access via our beta key giveaway pages. Now these are still under development, so we might have a few issues with them. Please let me know in this thread if you have any problems.
Meanwhile, go grab a key, and/or check out the latest trailer for City Of Steam, below.

I was kinda stupid and clicked the ‘give key’ button before I had a chance to look more into the game, which IMHO doesn’t seem like anything for me. So here’s my unused key someone else can use: KYXWK-XWyqN-yd8r5-7KaZm

I unfortunately did the same. For some dumb reason I ignored that 3d bike and thought this was that other steam punk game that’s supposed to be similar to Dwarf Fortress.
So here’s my unused key and my “I’m With Stupid ^” sign :(

You think it was that Steampunk city-builder game? That’s what I thought it was.

Because what we all needed was still another MMO.

The room has lots of room for more MMOs. I am jus sick to death of MMORPGs, where RPG apparently means combat like the original Everquest, levels, and all the other done to death shitty game play. I want fantasy Planetside where you also talk with people about more stuff than taking the next base. I Chivalry combat in a level less fantasy world would rock. Another WoW clone with new textures though? Snore. I’ll be playing Planetside 2 and waiting for Star Citizen. Wake me if a not WoW clone appears.

it is best described as something like a Neverwinter Nights “persistent world” but with a home brewed campaign setting.

Their site isn’t working for me. I mean it loads but I can’t actually submit my registration.
Also I’d like to echo the sentiment that’s already here in the comments: kind of looks bland and like nothing new, though if my registration actually works in the next day or two I’ll at least check it out for a bit.
16/11/2012 at 15:02 Killercheese says:
I can second this, clicking register does nothing right now. This combat looks kinda actiony like Vindictus so I still want to check it out. Although this video is all that i’ve seen of this game so i’ll see.

I used that one out of morbid curiosity.
Edit: Or apparently didn’t, but it’s used anyway.

since all keys seem to be gone, here are couple other places where you can still get some:
http://www.mmobomb.com/giveaway/city-of-steam-beta-keys
http://www.eurogamer.net/giveaways.php?id=87181
i didn’t post more links to avoid the spam filter, but there are more sites with keys, just google for city of steam beta keys, if you don’t like the above two.
the game looks just as awful as all other mmos, btw.

16/11/2012 at 17:45 Dana says:
This screenshot is laughably pathetic, and has nothing to do with steampunk.
Play them off, Sir Reginald.

I came here to complain about modern ‘steampunk’, but instead found this lovely song. There’s a moral to this story somewhere I’m sure.
