Bit.Trip Endless Runner Void Saga Core Fate Flux Saga XIII

By Alec Meer on July 5th, 2013 at 3:00 pm.

With a mere 72 Bit.Trip games to choose from now, it’s a source of ongoing panic that I might not be able to lay hands on a fresh brightly coloured, pseudo-retro Gaijin Games title at any given time. Just as I was in the middle of terrified flailing and screeching following the realisation that it had been a full 19.7 hours since the release of the last Bit.Trip title, my frenzy was abated by news of a free, browser-based endless runner starring and named after the series’ monochrome hero, Commander Video.

It’s a little more involved than the raft of Canabalt clones which litter the internet, and it’s plenty pretty and plenty challenging. It exists to advertise Bit.Trip Runner 2, but manages to be more than merely throwaway. Important tip though – press R immediately after failing if you want to restart, otherwise you’ll have to click through twelftey thousand high score screens before you can play again.

Also they say there’s some input lag problem in Chrome so you should use Firefox or IE, but either that’s a fib because Ian Microsoft is giving them bungs or my reflexes are so damned poor that I simply didn’t notice. I lean towards the latter.

Here you go!

Input lag pretty much the same on Chrome and Firefox here – also the game ‘hiccups’ which makes it – well – a bit shit, frankly…

People have spoken highly of Runner2 – but this is more Runner and it was, well, a bit shit frankly…

my roomate’s step-aunt makes $71/hour on the laptop. She has been without work for eight months but last month her check was $21976 just working on the laptop for a few hours. Read more on this site WEP6.COM

Runner 2 is amazing. The original Bit.Trip.Runner was also great but a little too difficult for me, only managed to get halfway through level 2. Ish.

The minigame is cute but the delay after pressing space (jump) is intolerable and/or infuriating. The other keys work fine, though.

Runner 2 is great, but I played it once in Steam’s offline mode and my savegame got wiped. That made me sad.

Yeah, I love all the BIT.TRIP games but Runner 2 is probably the best of the lot if you’re astonishingly cack-handed like me. I wish I was good at Core, but I get a real buzz when I manage to complete a brief sequence.

Yeah, this is an unplayable as that penguin platformer RPS posted a couple of days back – too much input lag for a game that requires precision reflexes = pointless.

  4. Nixitur says:

Sometimes, the game slows down a bit for about half a second and other times, the screen just gets completely fucked up with half an obstacle there, ground where there’s actually a pit here…
Absolutely unplayable and fundamentally broken. Don’t recommend it.
