Will We Escape With The Escapists?

Where do you go once you’ve successful Kickstarted a Dizzy-like 16-bit era platformer? Well, if you re the creator of Spud’s Quest, you create a top-down prison break game called The Escapists, and you Kickstart that, too. The developer explains that he believes the prison-break theme hasn’t been sufficiently explored by videogames: “Surely a game that encapsulates the tension and thrills of meticulously planning and executing a perfect prison escape would be fun, no? Well I think so, that’s why I’m asking for your help to make The Escapists.”

And he’s asking for just £3000 to get this off the ground. Doesn’t sound like a big ask, eh?

The Chain Gang Chase is worth mentioning here. It looks like a pretty fun local multiplayer game for PC.

Even if is too high for as a purchase price for a minigame, let alone a backing price.

Love the idea. Sort of Prison Architect, but as one of the prisoners intent on escape.

I’ve jonesed for another good prison game since Chronicles of Riddick.

It’d be great if you could mod in different themes too. A sci-if Riddick theme. A Midnight Express theme. A Great Escape theme.

The idea behind prison architect originally had you breaking into jails, before they scrapped the whole game.

Check out Prisoner of War (2002) some time.

one of the similarities between this and prison architect is that they both take place in prisons

Great idea, but I think it’ll work better the more realistic it is. At one point, that prisoner was in his cell holding several keys and a spade…
