I saw someone mention in an unrelated thread about an application called Games Booster
It claims to suspend all background windows services/processes and free up resources temporarily for games.

Has anyone tried it or heard anything much about it?

I know it's a legitimate program. I haven't used it and I don't think you'd see much benefit on a newer PC, but it's worth a try if you're struggling to run games well.

I used to use it on my old machine But haven't tried it on my new hardware. I can safely say that its a legit program and it really will help the lower end spec PCs. But say if your running a quad core and 4+ gig of ram then there really isn't much of a point.

I'll give it a miss then, running an I7 + 6gig, but I might put on my old dear's machine for her Defense Grid sessions
I've no need of it but I like the idea. Good to hear it actually works too. Kudos to the devs.

Yeah, I've used it a good few times when I wanted to play tf2 on my laptop, it works pretty well for lower spec stuff. Didn't see much difference on a better comp.

All it does is disable services and a few other things. It doesn't actually "boost" anything.
