I'm east coast US (GMT -5) but am usually on during the day. I only have 35% speech recognition due to hearing loss, so don't be offended if I don't catch what you're saying. :) My main characters are Biao, Razslo and Berwydd, though I have a new rogue Osco. Shoot a /tell or an in-game mail for guild invite, or better yet, list your character here and one of us officers will send you an invite.

Also, look back in this thread for an alphabetized list of collectibles that sell well on the Auction House.

Torgen and I played through the Lordsmarch Plaza (http://ddowiki.com/page/Lordsmarch_Plaza) free quests last night which was really good fun. I had a bittersweet moment though be cause I was lucky enough to have Bloody Cleaver (http://ddowiki.com/page/Bloody_Cleaver) drop but did not realise it was bound to character on equip, so Oberron now has an excellent two handed weapon that I am unlikely to use as I am a two weapon fighting specialist ranger :P. Oh well, lesson learned.

Update: Well all is not so boo-hoo as I originally thought, I can combine the bloody cleaver with the hooked blade (http://ddowiki.com/page/Hooked_Blade) (a khopesh, so perfect for my dual wielder) to make a bloody hooked blade (http://ddowiki.com/page/Bloody_Hooked_Blade). I just need to get the hooked blade. Farming time!

Torgen, one of the items from the Attack on Stormreach adventure pack looks like a good one for your monk, Garments of Equilibrium.

OK what the hell happened...was it a Christmas Miracle????

I decided at the weekend to hand in all the collectibles I have on Oberron that do not feature in Cannith crafting...which as you can imagine resulted in a lot of low level stuff that I sold off but I also handed in my festive coins so by now I have a massive overflow on my backpack.

For the last few days I've been decanting items to my bard to sell and every time I remove an item from my full backpack an item from overflow appears to take its place.

So there I am stacking festive jellies and biscuits and I just removed one from a backpack slot now and what appears from overflow....an +5 Greensteel Bastard Sword (http://ddowiki.com/page/Green_Steel_Item)....where did that come from?????? I can only assume the cryptic comment by the devs about sometimes getting special presents when handing in festive coins is true.

Well, a quick look at DDO wiki gives afew options.

Around level 12-14 on the paid for side there is Gianthold Tor (http://ddowiki.com/page/Gianthold_Tor) (part of the Ruins of Gianthold pack) with 7 chests (but some tricky dragon slaying and synchronised killing of a giant and its dragon)

Free to play but probably a bit more straightforward is Mired in Kobolds (http://ddowiki.com/page/Mired_in_Kobolds), where again there is dragon slayage and it rewards between 5 and 9 chests depending on the difficulty level.

At low levels (4-5) Irestone Inlet (http://ddowiki.com/page/Irestone_Inlet) seems to givea good chest haul of 8-14 and is free to play.

House c has a series of 12 challenges, they're p2p in general but f2p gets a daily allotment of 3 or 5 tokens for a random challenge.

http://ddowiki.com/page/Challenges

The tokens don't disappear though so if you log on and get some it's possible to do the challenge when more people are around to do it.

I broke down and bought Artificer yesterday, have a human arti named Torquenut McSpanner.

Also: The guild is now level 23. We can purchase a training dummy for the airship, but would have to lose one of the buffing NPCs. If anyone is interested in having the training dummy, reply here and state which NPC you prefer gets the pink slip to make room.

At level 6, with a cleric hireling, the finale to Shan To Kor is impossible to solo without epic twink gear and past lives. I couldn't spot the traps, even using my +2 arti skill boost and a +5 Spot item. After dying 4 times and even buying a gold seal rogue hireling (who couldn't see the traps either) I gave up. (Oh, I'm also wearing Mithral Full Plate for +14AC.) Made a solo zerg run of Catacombs on normal instead, and the rune arm didn't show up at the end rewards again. My elite streak is at 24 right now, I believe, and it's fun to see how much the arti can solo on elite and pull it off. I don't see myself going back to my STR-based rogue I started a couple weeks ago.

HOWEVER.... someone screwed up badly and listed the Hand of the Tombs (http://ddowiki.com/page/Hand_of_the_Tombs) on the AH for 10kpp and I snapped it up! I need to figure out how to farm trap parts in order to make modules. You *can't* blank a module then craft it, even though it says craftable. You have to craft *handwraps*, then put them in the trap making station in the Harbor with mechanical trap parts.

Vexing Vision
26-12-2011, 05:07 PM
Torgen, are you talking about STK Elite? On Normal, my level 7 acrobat-thief (completely non-twinked) was able to disable all but one fire trap, which she dodged through easily enough anyway, and with her current AC, there wasn't much the Goblins could do with the exception of those blasted clerics.

Just wondering if they changed something? Doesn't sound right, you should be able to get through without a hireling.

torgen
26-12-2011, 09:17 PM
Yeah, the finale to Shan To Kor: http://ddowiki.com/page/Halls_of_Shan-To-Kor

With a 14 Spot and then hitting artificer skill boost for +2, could not spot the traps on elite when searching. Finally just broke my 25 elite streak and did it with Moondog on hard, and it was a snap.

Doggie, is this the build you're using? http://forums.ddo.com/showpost.php?p=4028191&postcount=79

I will eventually respec into that build endgame, using epic chimera's fang and swapping my current dragonmarks of making for dragonmarks of sentinel. It will have two fighter levels (at 7 and 20) for additional combat feats, an +1 strength enhancement, heavy armour proficiency and martial weapon proficiency.

The build I am using to level is based on the Mechano build (although human rather than warforged): http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?p=4218286.

Once I hit level 6 I shall have access to a good selection of bastard swords I've been collecting to pair with the Rune Arm Chimera's Breath (which gives bastard sword proficiency) which includes an +2 acid bastard sword of shatter, a slowburst bastard sword and an +4 adamantine bastard sword. The great thing with runearms is that glancing blows from single wielding bastard swords or dwarven axes (which can be increased in frequency by the two handed weapon feat line) do the full bonus elemental damage conferred by the rune arm.

torgen
29-12-2011, 03:04 AM
The guild is now level 24!

I've added a mailbox on the airship (yes, it really looks strange there on deck) and we now qualify for a new NPC buffer: Scholar of the Twelve, who casts +1 spell pen and +1 DC buff for your evocation and conjuration spells. The House J healer that gives 10% healing amp has 5 days left. Do we want to renew her or get the Scholar?

Doggie, do you want the Khyber's Fury rune arm from Tangleroot? I nabbed it my second try (and got level 8 in the process) and will help you farm it if you want.

Exploding Fire Shot
Maximum Charge Tier: II
Moderate Fortification (http://ddowiki.com/page/Fortification)
Rune Arm Imbue (http://ddowiki.com/edit/Rune_Arm_Imbue?redlink=1): Fire I
Craftable Rune Arm (http://ddowiki.com/page/Craftable_Rune_Arm) (+3)

It's about the same power as Chimera's Breath but it only charges to Tier II power level (CB goes to III.) Might be better off farming Wizard King for Hand of the Tombs. If you haven't gotten Candlelight from Catacombs, we could run Deleras for Coronach (in addition to the rest of the good loot there.)

Light Spirals
Life Shield (http://ddowiki.com/page/Life_Shield)
Coronach (Fascinate undead on crit)
Rune Arm Imbue: Light II
Craftable Rune Arm (http://ddowiki.com/page/Craftable_Rune_Arm) (+3)
Maximum Charge: Tier III

I wish you could wear two rune arms. You could go Warforged and look like a tiny Mech. :)

It is. Positioning matters, you actively block and dodge, and even attack is an actual (mostly) sword swing. You target spells (rays can be dodged easily), etc.

It's nice. Very nice.

I logged in yesterday to check mail and the airship. I've purchased two weeks and three days of buff stations on the airship, and added a Free Agents tavern on the deck. Remember, any officer can refresh the buff hirelings. To initially spawn one, you only get 3 days, but subsequent applications of the hireling deed adds a week to it, so it is far more advantageous to recharge them before they expire.

I had some large unexpected bills lately, so let my sub lapse. When things get better, I'll resub.

An officer can talk to the kobold on deck to show the anchor points, and then when standing at each hireling, you get a notice of how long they have.

How this game compares to LOTRO? I played that one for a bit but it felt... boring. As most MMOs. For reference, I loved the week that I've played Pirates of the Burning Sea (good ambientation, good mini-games, not as boring combat, etc.) - in general, I felt that I was doing something worthwhile.
