View Full Version : The city of Bezoar - strange place names in games

Read a description for Hard Reset today. It takes place in the "city of Bezoar."

Bezoar is a term for a mass of partially-digested or undigested material that gets lodged in the digestive tract. Or it is sort of a future-y cyberpunkish name, I guess, by the way it sounds.

Anyone encounter other strange and maybe inadvertently inappropriate names for places in games?

If not, I am perfectly happy being the alpha and omega for this thread.

Eh, not really inappropriate, but I've been replaying Morrowind lately and "Assarnibibi" has always held a special place in my heart.

Aventuria, from Drakensang. It's the name of the entire realm. Probably sounds better in its native German or something.

As I was making this post, I just realized it's not spelled Adventuria - bah.

Been reading the LP of KOTOR2 most of the day, there was this humorous bit

http://lparchive.org/Knights-of-the-Old-Republic-II/Update%2018/img-10.gif "Do you know the name of his homeworld?"
http://lparchive.org/Knights-of-the-Old-Republic-II/Update%2018/img-40.gif "I don't remember the name - something with too many 'k's and 'y's. Sounds like you're gargling ronto spit when you say it."

That's Kashyyyk. Whoever wrote this dialog (Avellone?) was apparently annoyed that it was necessary to put 3 'Y's in a row in "Kashyyyk".
