...I ran it a few times upon release but got sidetracked (something to do with getting engaged). I've never even played the famous 'Cradle' level, mention of which I still avoid whenever it comes up on RPS to avoid spoilers.

Last weekend I decided to re-install it and (of course) ran into some graphical problems. Basically, it goes into massive slowdown and textures start appearing as black blobs.

I'm running Windows XP Media Centre Edition (SP3) on a 2.4Ghz Core 2 Duo with a Radeon 4770 (512mb).

As the game was designed for XP I guess it's the card. Anybody got any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Try and get an older driver? Maybe one from when the card was released. Sorry I cant offer anything more useful.

That's a fair answer. I'm too shit-scared to try anything like that, though as I'm happy with every other aspect of my (admittedly rather elderly) setup and don't want to rock the boat too much for fear of losing what I have.

Showing my own age here, but I remember when backwards-compatibility was one of the major selling points for PC gaming. Long time ago now.
