In the shower this morning I decided that it would be a good idea to start an Oblivion diary, in which I catalogue the ker-azy shenanigans I'll surely get up to in that game. Now it's still a bit early, so before I realise that it's a terrible idea, I'd like to ask a question.

Can anyone recommend a good, free blogging service? I'm thinking of things like Tumblr or Blogger/Google Blogs here.
Things I'd like (some of this might be really basic):
Ability to embed images in posts, rather than simply posting an image or attaching it at the end.
Comments (because nothing says "you've made it" like deleting spam).
Archiving by date (e.g. searching for all posts from November).

Thanks in advance.

Blogspot is ok, being highly customisable with the right tools. I've seen a lot of bloggers change over to WordPress, but WordPress charges extra for basic stuff like layouts.

However, if you're looking to host it rather than just use a service, WordPress is a doddle to set up and work with.

Tumblr looks snazzy, I quite like it. But i mostly use Blogger because I'm boring.

I like the look of Posterous (https://posterous.com/) and thinking of using that for my work blog if I EVER get around to starting it. More streamlined than a full Blogger / Wordpress solution, does all the things on your wishlist (http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9220503/Microblogger_shootout_Posterous_Spaces_vs._Tumblr? taxonomyId=169&pageNumber=1) (I think) and looks particularly good for embedding images. Not tried it myself yet, anyone here use it?
