RPS doesn't update for 4 whole days. I mean really, what am I supposed to do?

I actually quite enjoy it. I'm slightly compulsive by nature, and combined with the quality of the writing at RPS, I often find myself reading everything that gets posted to the site. I end up spending more time reading about games than playing them, so right now I'm catching up on my backlog. LOL j/k, I bought Saints Row 3 in a sale so I'm playing that.

Since RPS started becoming a blog about regurgitating news instead of writing original content I've started reading one or two blog posts a day at most.

I use the RSS feed to get the general gist of the news and read the one or two original articles a week that get posted.

The break doesn't phase me.

Erm.. Hasn't RPS always been PC gaming news with occasional original content?

I think they deserve a break, more then once I've missed a whole page of posts before because so many appear in the same day. Having the forum down for 12 hours or so the other day was HORRIBLE though - missed my fix of furiously stabbing the "what's new?" button.

Not always, but it has been for a good few years now.

Nope, the first year or so was just mind bogglingly funny, brilliant original content which is what attracted me to the site.

I know I'm coming across a bit harshly but I don't mean to. If you are interested in every new trailer and every new press release then this is a great place to read them because the RPS writers are really good. Also, the new items are easy to write and help pay the bills and I'm not going to begrudge anybody some cash to survive. I just really miss the glory days. Some of the best and most interesting games writing I've ever read happened consistently back in the day.

Well, steering this thread back on topic.

Worst thing about Christmas, is the hangover-y feeling you get when it's over. And all the stuff you have to clean. Alone.

@Wooly Wugga Wugga

I agree. Particulary since Eurogamer took over the ad sale they turned more into a comprehensive PC site that has to post every PC-related bit than a blog that posts primarily what the writers like.
They got pretty big doing the latter so I'm not sure if that switch was necessary.

The site still has the same amount of original feature content that it used to though. There's just more 'noise'. And if that means the site keeps going then it's hardly a hardship.

This is my impression as well. Still the writing is superior even on the "lets post about an announcement about a thing coming up" sort bit that's 3 times removed from actual news.

Say what you will about these spambots, but they're full of sound advice.

It was a pretty insightful comment, ignoring the spamlink in the signature. Bet they're humans.

I like it better now. Some day e-archaeologists will discover this and assume that Nalano was a spambot who managed to take over this forum, completely fucking up their timescale for the development of advanced AI.

What's truly amazing (scary) is he's equally prolific on several other forums.

The idea of future scientists developing an AI based on the Nalano protocol is both terrifying and totally awesome.

I'm an ad campaign for the promotion of me.
