View Full Version : Blight of the Immortals
10-01-2012, 06:55 PM
I just thought I'd see if there's any interest in getting an RPS game of blight of the immortals going.
I've always been tempted by these kind of slow-form strategy games, and figured what better pool of like-minded chaps than the RPS forums?
10-01-2012, 08:53 PM
I was wondering whether anyone would be interested in this as well. Decided to try it out after that Neptune's Pride repost. Still in the middle of my first game, although it's only in one of the easy difficulty newbie rooms without inter-player fighting.
Count me in if a game gets going.
11-01-2012, 01:59 PM
Yeah, I'd be interested if we can get a game going. Have never played before, so would prefer a game with some nice friendly RPS-ers before diving into playing against randoms.
11-01-2012, 02:06 PM
I'd be interested in playing. I played it a bit when it was in beta but I expect there have been a fair few changes since then.
As far as I remember doesn't someone have to have payed to create a private game though? Otherwise we'd just be chancing it trying to get in on the same one.
11-01-2012, 07:47 PM
Well I don't mind paying if that's an issue. If we get enough interest that is.
11-01-2012, 07:55 PM
Didn't enjoy Neptune's Pride but I only played one game of this with randoms and I'd be up for another try.
11-01-2012, 08:12 PM
I'm interested in trying it out as well. Neptune's Pride is interesting.
11-01-2012, 10:50 PM
I'd be interested in this, but don't you have to pay to access all the races and units in the game?
12-01-2012, 08:13 AM
No. You pay to access the other game modes, be able to set up private games and remove ads. I'm pretty sure only one of us would need to pay money.
12-01-2012, 02:25 PM
Ah, I must've read the site wrong, then. Thanks for clarifying that! My interest is now solid.
12-01-2012, 03:43 PM
I might hop in. Played it a while ago when it was fresh and my impressions were mixed. Tempted to try again.
12-01-2012, 05:10 PM
I'm definitely in - I think that game is better than Neptune's pride!
12-01-2012, 06:27 PM
Havent played this for awhile so i forget how many people can play but if there is room or someone drops out id be up for playing to
12-01-2012, 07:41 PM
Last time I played was almost a year ago, but at that point you did have to pay to build units of other races (IE not your starting race). This works out fine if everyone is in the same situation as it just means you need to trade the coins you can't use.
12-01-2012, 08:37 PM
To clarify, you don't need to pay to use other units. I presume we're going to go for an 8 player game. But what difficulty?
I'll start the game next Sunday so be ready to sign up as I'll post the game name and password in the forum.

It seems like we'll have enough people to get a game going - what type of game are we going to go for? It seems that the biggest choice to make is PvP on or off, which would totally change the character of a game. I'd be happy either way.
19-01-2012, 10:46 AM
Well we do have enough people, but we need to get organised. I don't want to start PMing people, but I reckon an 8-player coop on normal/hard difficulty?
What do you think?
19-01-2012, 11:22 AM
Sounds good to me. I'd suggest just creating a game, posting the details here and see who gets in.
19-01-2012, 02:31 PM
Sounds good to me. Post or PM the details or whatever you'd like.
19-01-2012, 06:34 PM
Im in, posting a link in here would probably be enough?
19-01-2012, 06:51 PM
In as well.
19-01-2012, 07:21 PM
Also in, but I've already said that, so this is pretty redundant.
19-01-2012, 08:27 PM
I count 11 people in the thread saying they'd be up for joining - is it worth having two games going on? By all accounts it doesn't take enough time out of your day that palying in two games would be impossible. If you're allowed multiple games running at once, of course ...
19-01-2012, 09:22 PM
You can play in three games at once on the "free" side of things - after that - they want you to send a few bucks their way.
20-01-2012, 06:07 PM
I'll sort it out tonight. I reckon hard difficulty :)
If it goes well then maybe we can go for a PvP game after.
21-01-2012, 11:41 AM
Join Daave's game, password horace. Happy hunting!
21-01-2012, 12:56 PM
Joined, now I only need to remember how to play.
21-01-2012, 01:11 PM
I too have joined, I think I remember what I am doing but we shall see
21-01-2012, 01:44 PM
Independent armies don't move, do they? I've set out to grab land quickly but it's left my starting villages temporarily unoccupied.
21-01-2012, 01:46 PM
No I think they stay put
21-01-2012, 01:54 PM
I'm in, my in-game name is Geoff Dreadnought. Anyone fancy trading coins? Blue and Red seem to be the colours I'll be wanting.
21-01-2012, 02:06 PM
in as well. (latterman)
lots of everything to trade for (most importantly) yellow and blue.
edit: curses you did already launch the game?
21-01-2012, 02:52 PM
Joined, playing as Goblins of the North. Can see how things are quickly going to become difficult.
EDIT: Looks like I won't be using blue coins so can trade them for orange, red or possibly purple.
21-01-2012, 07:25 PM
We could do with an eighth player if anyone's interested.
22-01-2012, 03:31 PM
What difficulty is this on btw.?
Also, what happens when two armies meet on the road?
22-01-2012, 03:42 PM
23-01-2012, 09:19 AM
Gah being at work sucks, i just know i am going to get home and the undead hordes will be at the gates
23-01-2012, 03:44 PM
Yes, I had this problem with Centaur. I hate Centaur.
23-01-2012, 06:37 PM
How does this game play out long-term? Are we competing with each other or is it purely co-op?
I've had a fairly strong starting position and there's shortly going to be no zombies within a week's march, and I'm not sure where to go from here. Can I march through other people's territory to move to the frontlines?
23-01-2012, 07:27 PM
It's coop but you get more points for more kills so there is an overall winner, iv never played a winning game so im interested to see if we can do it, i think you can go through other peoples land as we're not playing pVp
23-01-2012, 11:42 PM
Somehow the game feels more buggy/incomplete than it did the last time. I just lost 40 men army to either bugs our bad explained game mechanics.
28-01-2012, 11:23 AM
How many of the first batch of players would be up for a second game? I think we all got to grips with the mechanics and stuff.
If there are any dropouts, now would be the time. The next match will be on the hardest difficulty :)
28-01-2012, 12:03 PM
Yep as I said I am in
28-01-2012, 01:18 PM
I'll try another game. Maybe I'll get to fight something this time.
I'm in - that was too easy last time.
28-01-2012, 07:55 PM
Could I join?
29-01-2012, 09:06 PM
I've set up the second game. Daave's Game 2: Judgement Day. The password this time is 'ecaroh'. Bon chance!
30-01-2012, 02:20 PM
We could do with 2 more players, don't worry about starting the game late, the zombies near to you only spawn when you start playing, and we've only had a (relatively) short amount of time since the beginning of the game.
Also, yay! We've got our own sub-folder.
30-01-2012, 09:54 PM
How is honour calculated? Kills don't seem to have much effect on it.
01-02-2012, 08:18 PM
Aargh! Does anyone know how you're meant to stop zombie goblin assassins? I've just lost another army to them, and it seems their skill lets them do double damage in combat, whilst suffering none in return. Which seems a bit strong to me ...
02-02-2012, 01:35 AM
After they pull that trick - send an army at them - it doesn't respawn for more than a day.
02-02-2012, 08:14 AM
Ah! - thanks!
Anybody know how combat vs a stack of armies is resolved?

19-02-2012, 12:21 PM
Are you guys playing real-time or turn-based mode please?
Also, if another game is started, I'd really like to join. I've played quite extensively albeit not in the last 9 months.
04-04-2012, 06:48 PM
Big shout out to Deathmonkey - purely through his skill and effort, the two of us are just about to win the hardest difficulty setting game that 8 of us started just over two months ago!!!
(And I do mean purely - I've just been a passenger for the last five weeks or so!)
04-04-2012, 09:49 PM
Haha your kiding, think i got booted when my internet was down
05-04-2012, 10:05 AM
I'm interested in a new game of any type - coop, competitive, real-time or turn-based. I would get slaughtered in a real-time competitive game though, as I can log on only once per day really. Dark ages I know, but I only game in the evenings.
06-04-2012, 04:07 PM
65 Days later - we Just completed Daave's game 2 - on the impossible setting. Geoff Dreadnought and I were the only two left, but rolled back the zombie menace. That was tough!
