Howdy! Game clubs are over here (http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?10-Game-Clubs-And-General-Sociability-Ok), notable RPS games include ArmA2, Frozen Synapse, and Eve Online.

Missing from that list above is Blood bowl, the only RPS game to spawn eight different spreadsheets!
LongBlade
22-01-2012, 08:26 PM
<chukle> Does that mean we have to be ground up by eight spreadsheets of Bloodbowl players before we're deemed worth of entry to the RPS forums?

Yes, and you only get to field Snotlings. We get dorfs. Sorry man, them's the rules.

OK. Let me install the dang game again.
It's not like I played it much or anything, so kicking me around in it won't be hard.

Hey all! Another Yank and friend of LongBlade's here. I've been a long time reader of RPS and long time gamer (of all sorts).
Did you all know that people in the US are suddenly obsessed with Downton Abbey (including myself)? What gives? Does the program feature subliminal messages or something?

I could tell you, or I could let a man pretending to be the Hulk do it for me. (seriously though it's an interesting article)

Heya SoM.
Tell the truth, I've never heard of Downtown Abbey. I should probably blame it on Skyrim or something, but the truth is if it isn't on the History Channel, Science Channel, Military Channel, or The Walking Dead - I don't really care.

Ahem...it's Downton Abbey. Downtown Abbey is a lady of ill repute who kinda smells funny. Oh and hi all. I've admired the style of RPG for a long time. I am also a pal and former employee of LongBlade.

OK, it should be obviously by now that I'm pretty clueless as to your latest hoity-toity heir apparent to Masterpiece Theatre.

Wow, loads of new people. Hi everyone!
Did you all know that people in the US are suddenly obsessed with Downton Abbey (including myself)? What gives? Does the program feature subliminal messages or something?
British subliminal messages such as "come back, we forgive you" and "we can put 1776 behind us". ;)
Apparently, Americans - especially female Americans - adore British accents. That might have something to do with it. It also goes a long way to explaining why so many people on my course really want to get onto the Harvard exchange trip. :)
In all seriousness, Downton Abbey is amazing. It's tied with Sherlock as best TV show of the last four or five years.
Are they televised in America like Doctor Who is, or do you have to resort to less respectable methods to sate your British cravings?

Westyfield I love your accent! But I am unfortunately not female. Can't wait to watch Downton Abbey. The Wife may really like it too I think.

Hey, are you all in the same guild or something? :)
Kinda.
It's a bit of a long story. I'm the former Editor for Wargamer.com. Turns out I was also the chief, cook, and bottlewasher. Which meant, amongst other things, that I was also the forum Admin. I left them about a year and a half ago. Since then things on the Wargamer forums have, ummm, well, I'll let you ask the natives. They've been kinda restless and were looking for a new place to hang.
Gus got drunk one night, started playing spin the bottle with websites, and RPS won.
Does that help?

Hmm, well if it makes you feel any better I had a cracking Quesadilla for dinner tonight B)
Welcome guys.

Thanks for the welcome, ntw. Sounds yummy. I haven't figured out what to do for dinner yet. I was thinking of grilling some pork chops, but given the light rain/freezing rain/ice/snow that's trying to get started up, I'm probably going to be limited to something indoors.

Can I just be married to a Brit and skip the whole "laws of cricket" part? Especially since I know more about British politics than she does?
Rakysh
23-01-2012, 01:18 PM
The laws of cricket are the most important part, and baseball is cricket for people with no patience. British politics has been an unhappily homogenised mass for the past twenty years anyway, so no extra points there, no sir.

I haven't seen Stophro yet. May have to go back in and get him. Star I figured was savvy enough to figure it out on his own, but then again, he may be passed out with three nekkid chicks in his house and not able to find his computer for a few days. May have to go back for him, too.
Bison made the migration - he's not on your list.
Silent Disapproval Robot made the migration, he's not there either.

OK folks... just an update on the migration... it didn't really happen all that much. Nothing against the folks here at RPS - who were much nicer and more accommodating that ACG ever was, but we kinda needed our own field to roam and grave and be ourselves.
To that end, we'd love to invite any/all who may be interested to join us over at www.grogheads.com/forums/
We're not really trying to compete with RPS at all, but are looking instead to talk a bit more seriously about grognard-level wargames, as well as some RPGs and other strategy games, both digital and tabletop. We're also the digital equivalent of a bunch of borderline drunk smart-alecs sitting around a bar trading war stories about where we got our scars, with each tale taller than the last.
And with that, the shameless plug portion of our programming is now ending, and we'll get out of the way.
Thanks to RPS for being such nice folks, especially compared to what we'd encountered elsewhere on teh interwebz :P

This appears to be the de facto introduction thread, so I'll get started here. First off, do you allow folk from the colonies in here? I swear I'll spell all my words the proper British (and Canadian) English way.
Anyway, in the past year, I've returned to the PC gaming fold, and so RPS became one of my daily blogs. I've been reading for a while now, and thought it an appropriate time to jump in.
So, hello, everyone!
