View Full Version : Burnout Paradise

Come one, come all - to the RPS Burnout racing league!
We're currently meeting once a week or so to burn some rubber, dent some chrome and manically twirl about the place.
We get up to this sort of thing, but it's more exciting when you're part of it. We squeal, we make inappropriate jokes and we generally have a good time for about an hour a week.
ADD THESE NAMES TO YOUR BURNOUT FRIENDS LIST: It allows us to invite you to games.
A few other bits and pieces-
We're currently working on putting together a racing league. This will probably start in in April, if there is still interest. There will be one race a week.

I am interested to see how legitimately organised multiplayer would turn out.

I'm not going to be online these days but I'm up for a game if I have the time.

I might be up for a bit of racing, though all my SP progress and nice cars are tied to the Xbox 360 version :( - I have, like, four cars on the PC version.
I'm thegooseking on Origin. And on Steam, but I don't have the game on Steam...
16-03-2012, 02:00 AM
8PM? That's like 3 in the afternoon for normal people.
I might be around 830-9 my time, though.
I didn't even know Burnout Paradise had multiplayer.
16-03-2012, 06:39 AM
Yeah, sign me up, although I can't make it this Friday. You know where to find me, DW ;)

Session went well yesterday - We raced around a little, played some marked man, and did a stack of challenges. Recommended that anyone that wants to join in with us spends an hour or so unlocking cars. Noghri could barely keep pace with us out there, bless him.
18-03-2012, 01:13 PM
Are you planning to repeat this anytime soon? I grabbed the game in the recent Steam sale and it's surprisingly fun, so I'd happily join you guys.

How far should one progress to have a fair chance in multiplayer?
Timezone is GMT+1, BTW ...

I'd say try to get your license to either a C or B rank.
18-03-2012, 04:57 PM
Yeah, to be honest all the cars get quite strong about the D level. so, C would ensure competitiveness. Thinking of running another session soon, but hte best bet is to add Darkwingstalker on steam, and I'll let you know when we're loading up. We tend to play spontaneously.
19-03-2012, 01:17 AM
Sent you an friend request.
Hope I can join you guys soon.

I guess I went a little overboard, then. Already got the Class A license over the weekend ... :D
@ Darkwingstalker: Sent you a PM.
19-03-2012, 05:09 PM
A is fine, just means you've got a bit more to play around with. They'll probably be a little something going off Wednesday night before I go on holiday :D
20-03-2012, 04:59 PM
Okay, I'll be playing tomorrow at 7pm GMT.
I can only fit 8 people, so it's really a case of first come first served.
20-03-2012, 07:46 PM
I'd love to play, but EA appear to have lost my digital copy. Not pleased.
21-03-2012, 06:00 PM
We're in mumble now.
21-03-2012, 06:06 PM
:( I'm at work
21-03-2012, 06:28 PM
I bought a usb hub from a pound shop and it cuts out every 2 seconds for a fraction of a moment, made playing burnout very exciting!
21-03-2012, 07:14 PM
There were a lot of crazy cars, crazy crashes and lots of screaming. The best part? DW's got it all on camera.
It was so fun, in fact, that I'll be hosting the same thing next week. Wednesday the 28th of March, at 1900 hours GMT. Just post in the thread if you'll be there or not and I'll try to have you added as a friend before we start crushing our chrome to bits.
See you then!
EDIT: In fact, whenever one of you plays Burnout, just add Capernatious as a friend through the ever so easy to use menu system. Good luck!
21-03-2012, 07:44 PM
I'm game. Just need to finish my Origin download (I got it free). Be about an hour.
Also Origin name is: ShowMeTheMonk (ShowMeTheMonkey was already taken.... I will hunt him down...)
22-03-2012, 12:13 AM
Is it time to get serious? Well, I'll edit the first post into something respectable.
22-03-2012, 02:28 AM
Ok, that was brilliant how Ayam nailed you with the Hummer. I launched off the jump after you, but hadn't seen what happened.
And yes, it was just a bit cheeky.
22-03-2012, 07:05 AM
Right, I gave up on trying to find my disc and just registered the serial on origin, so I should be up for a game. Add me on origin as SarnGlove, although that'll only be up when I fancy playing Burnout, and on steam as StrangLove. I'm also in the steam chatroom for the RPS group from about 4:00PM GMT onwards most days, if anyone fancies a game.
22-03-2012, 10:59 AM
Count me in, just added both names from the first post.
Now, who's going to make a similar thread for Jedi Academy?
22-03-2012, 03:05 PM
Apologies, apparently I've run out of activations for paradise, so I'm going to have to wait for support to get back to me. It shouldn't take too long, hopefully
22-03-2012, 03:43 PM
*DRM hate-lasers engaged*
22-03-2012, 05:03 PM
I am in for some Burnout action. y2rich on Origin.
22-03-2012, 05:07 PM
I'll also play.
27-03-2012, 01:42 PM
I'm in for some Burnout fun. I have to work up my license again though. I lost pretty much everything on a hard drive crash, had a B license before it happened.
My Steam and Origin name is mentor07825. Looking forward to some races :)
27-03-2012, 08:47 PM
I'm also in for some Burnout. Krogz on Origin
27-03-2012, 09:41 PM
Okay, update: the player limit on a Burnout game is eight. I'll list the players who I assume will be participating below. We might have to host two separate games if we're too many.
Communication wise we'll be using Mumble, not the ingame voice system. All the technical details can be found in the Mumble thread (http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/forums/showthread.php?2515-README-Mumble-VOIP-for-Arma-2-and-other-games).
With me that makes eight. Please PM me, post here or message me on Steam (username is Capernatious) if you want to join in or if you won't be there. I forsee the session will last for about an hour.
To clarify: as it is now, it's first come first serve. Be on time!
28-03-2012, 11:33 AM
When is the game on? Because I won't have access to my PC until Friday night :P
28-03-2012, 11:53 AM
The game session will start around 1900 hours GMT, tonight. If all goes well, this'll become a (bi)weekly thing.
28-03-2012, 12:54 PM
Cool :) Well hopefully I'll make it to next week's one!
28-03-2012, 10:37 PM
Couldn't make it tonight, but I'd be highly interested in a racing league/regular events, so ... COUNT ME IN!
29-03-2012, 01:29 PM
As soon as DW is back we'll begin brainstorming on how to organize that stuff. We might do a normal meetup next week since a lot of people will be having holidays.
30-03-2012, 07:59 PM
Yeah, its my fault for being a fancypants and running off to Ireland. back when Im back, and we'll brainstorm ideas then. Of course by brainstormm i mean me and siddin will barrel roll cars into each other while giggling and then we'll make you race for our amusement. (cork is amazing. i miss you all.)
02-04-2012, 06:52 AM
Alright, we be racing again this Wednesday, 4th of April. Let's make it 1930 hours GMT this time, so everyone has enough time to get there. It's still first come, first serve, so be on time!
03-04-2012, 09:54 AM
I might make this, depends how fast I drive back from the airport.
04-04-2012, 05:11 PM
Let's make it 1930 hours GMT this time
What time would that be across the pond (the small one)? I do get easily confused by this DST nonsense ...
I'm probably gonna be there.
04-04-2012, 05:33 PM
For Germany that would be 2030 hours.
