I'm a bit late to the party, but I finally have a computer that can run Skyrim and it'll be arriving today , hopefully.
What I was wondering however, is what mod you would recommend for keyboard and mouse controls, since I read it's based on xbox 360 controller?
And what other mods you really like.

Besides that any word of advice before I inject this addiction into my computer and start-off with a marathon session?!

You don't need any mods for that, though I would recommend navigating menus with the keyboard rather than the mouse as it's ridiculously unreliable.

As for mods, you should probably get a nose texture fix.

The only Mod I'd recommend for a first playthrough is SkyUI, because it makes the interface more PC-appropriate.

Don't even start the game without this UI mod (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=3863). And this (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=4862) is a must have too.

Tip #1: Search function, it's there for a reason.
Tip #2: Search function, it's there for a reason.
Tip #3: Search function, had you used it ya would've found these results (http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/forums/search.php?searchid=493143)

Also, there is a lengthy thread about that game, don't feel bad about necroing it if your post is ontopic and related: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/forums/showthread.php?1876-Shall-we-talk-about-Skyrim&highlight=Skyrim

Here's a huge list of excellent mods: http://www.destructoid.com/the-weekend-modder-s-guide-skyrim-220905.phtml

I also suggest the Skyrim FXAA injector to make the colors less bland and more vibrant.

Skyrim 2k HD mod is a must too if you have a GPU with 1GB or more VRAM to replace those awful blurry vanilla textures.

Thanks guys! I've been downloading all the mods recommended by the destructoid article, however I don't get one thing.

"4. Download the ENB Series Skyrim Injector (http://enbdev.com/download_en.htm). This the mod that makes the game really pretty, and they are also the guys behind the insane Grand Theft Auto IV graphics mods. This is still a beta right now, so once you install this you should keep checking back for updates. Make sure you get the latest version of the injector. If you are running Vista or Windows 7 then you'll need to install DirectX 9 (http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=19743) in order to make this run correctly."

This is supposedly intended to make it look better, but I don't understand what I have to do to use it. Currently I installed it in my Skyrim directory under steamapps/common/Skyrim, and it created 2 maps there:

-Injector version
-Wrapper version

Do I just run the EBNInjecotr.exe and start the game or do I have to do something additionally? It says: "Write target process name to ebnijector.ini" but I have no idea what this means or what I have to do, I can't find a .ini file anywhere..

Categorized Favs? THANK-YOU SO MUCH JNX

I dip in and out every few weeks with Skyrim and have a number of mods but that right looks to be downright ESSENTIAL to improving the experience.

Now, you know where I can get a free Nvidia card and solid state hd?

You're welcome. And it is indeed one of those "why the hell wasn't it like this in the first place?" mods.

Shameless self-promotion:

That's my magic mod. It lowers casting times for most Master level spells and adds a +50% power bonus to magic mastery perks. For example, the Apprentice Destruction perk by default lowers magicka cost for apprentice destruction spells by 50%. With my mod, it also increases apprentice destruction damage by 50%.

I've played pretty extensively with it, and I wouldn't call it unbalanced. The spells are now powerful enough to justify the wonky magicka cost-to-damage ratio. Give it a shot if you like the magic system but feel the spells are kind of weak!

Since HE started it! here's a mod that you may or may not care about, which just replaces people's underwear with trousers and a tunic, so you can loot them without having piles of underwear-corpses. =P I think that's a nice thing.

There's tons of other mods I would suggest, but not for someone playing it for their first time. =) There's plenty of weird and wacky stuff that happens to you while you're wandering around, but once you start feeling like you've seen it all, it can be fun to start again with "Occupy Skyrim" and/or "Warzones" to increase the likelihood of random happenings on the roads.

Finally, the "Live Another Life" Alternate Start mod is super-great because it lets you skip the long introduction if you want to make a new character (and also lets you choose what location and situation in which to begin your life) -- but again, I'd only install it when you get tired of starting in the middle of the same scene each time, and want to RolezPlayez something else.

But seriously, nose textures.

You don't like Blocky Nose? I thought it gave them character, where every Nord had to nuzzle a cheese grater as part of their morning ritual.

I should mention that the FXAA injector doesn't look better, in my opinion. Just more saturated and less atmospheric.

I always find it funny how people fiddle with graphics mods to basically enhance fuzziness and bloom.

I'm blind! Everything's so beautiful but I'm fucking blind!

That's true I guess, but you can adjust the settings and levels to your own liking if you want.
