View Full Version : New DLC: Arma 2: Army of the Czech Republic

So out of the blue (at least for me) a new DLC for ARMA 2 has been announced:

https://store.bistudio.com/arma2-army-of-the-czech-republic

Apart from the simple fact that this means that BIS is still eager to dish out content for A2 instead of focusing on A3 I'm excited for the two new maps which look like the feature proper rivers and such, something that was lacking on the official maps we've known so far.

I'm with you on that Wolf.

I was watching the little snippets their website...

Guess that Godzilla mod isn't coming ;o)

We already know ‪#Arma2‬ (https://twitter.com/search/%23Arma2) can do war and survival well. ‪#ACR‬ (https://twitter.com/search/%23ACR) DLC is going to offer some more unorthodox view at military.

Not sure if that means permanently flooded areas or *gasp* dynamic flodding. In any way, awesomecake.

Yeah, this is the first time I heard about it either, but I won't buy it because there isn't that much content in it.

Hmmm I don't know. I would throw money blindly at BIS but except from ArmaIII when it comes out, I haven't seen enough reasons to buy any Arma2 DLC so far. Plus, I gave up on the Arma SP a long time ago. Might have to wait and see.
I wonder if the maps will be available in 'lite' versions as well.

Just a thought: If the DLC brings us new maps (and it appears so), they will be added to the list of supported content in Folk sessions because they are still 'vanilla' content. This is how we treated Shapur (BAF) and Proving Grounds (PMC). You still won't need to buy the DLC, but if you get some enjoyment from this content through participation in Folk sessions, the Party suggests there is a moral case for rewarding BIS.

Yeah, BIS really are great for providing most of the meat of the DLC for absolutely nothing (yet there are still threads on the Steam forum of people complaining thusly: "8 for a texture pack for a free mod! No way!". BIS have been really great in supporting those who don't want to pay more but do want to play with people who might've paid more so even though I won't get much more out of PMC than I've already got access to (I might have a go on the campaign but I doubt I'll complete it), I feel like I might buy it soon just as a thank you to them. I think I'll pick this up too eventually, but it does seem odd releasing DLC for a game that will become obsolete when Arma III is out.

I wonder if BIS will surprise us and say all the Arma II assets can be used in Arma III? That would be so very delightful, I'm starting to learn Chernarus quite well thanks to Day Z so it would be a shame to never go back.

@Fer: Surely the party would not want to give the impression of rewarding a company that promotes the army of a country that decided they no longer needed the party and deviated from the inevitable march of socialist progress? Or is it not that kind of party? I forget.

Meh

I just wish that they'd spent their time fixing the annoying bugs and improving OA/CO instead of doing a "second PMC"(not really alot of new stuff).
But at the same time it's fun with new maps...

Ice is just angry because he wants SweDLC.

This is not how software development works though. The people making this new content are not (for the most part) the same people who fix bugs. Bugfixing has been going on all the time, and the rate of beta releases has actually increased significantly as of late.

Goddammit they should've done Nordic Armies DLC first! Swedes, Norwegians and (together with FDFmod) Finnish!
Would've been awesome... maybe for ArmA3? :D

The Dingo looks like something out of planetside. It's great.

The maps are looking wonderful, and now we won't need to have exchange medics or engineers with Czech forces.

I wonder what they'll be doing with weapons as the SA- series we have in OA are already up to spec (unlike the PMC xm8s, which basically added zeroing to the ones from A2)

Looks good. I'm only interested in the extra terrain though, Arma really could use some more high quality green maps. The units can be all downloaded as user made addons, maps are much harder to make. And awesome that the map looks summer-green, unlike Chernarus's autumn. Interesting that they still release DLC for Arma2, with Arma3 right around the corner.

Looks like some SCAR-alikes (CZ805): 1388

And some new SMGs (Scorpion EVOIII): 1389

The ACR recently updated their firearms, so we can expect to see these modern weapons as well as the older CZ58 series. Probably some M4s too.

The maps look nice, but I hope they'll be a bit bigger than Shapur and Proving Grounds.

I am really looking forward to this. Frankly I am happy to throw money at BIS as I now have more play time in Arma2 than any other game I've ever played...ever! I also really enjoyed the additions in BAF and PMC, and... I've learned to trust that BIS will keep working away on things and I like to support that. Hopefully given the boost to sales that DayZ has given them they are financially secure and able to keep including awesome random stuff in Arma3. Even after all this time I am still discovering stuff in Arma2 and constantly being surprised.

Hopefully more maps = more opportunities for unique emergent experiences!

I'll be buying this, haven't bought any of the other DLC's but this one actually seems worth it considering it adds two new maps and the new BREN looks awesome.

From what I've heard Arma II content will be relatively easily transported into Arma III.

Would I be able to get this working with the steam version? Does it install like a mod or am I better off waitibg for steam to offer it

Yep, all the ARMA2 stuff works together irrespective of where it's bought from.

The DLC was released and can be downloaded via Sprocket. As usual there's a slight delay on Steam. Bodge made some screenies (http://steamcommunity.com/id/bodge/screenshots) with the new vehicles.

Personal highlights:
Truck with a mounted MG turret (360), enough room for a full squad.
HMMW Dhskm.
Dingos.
The new MG.

Well, i hope you guys decide to include ACR lite in the TT (and folk) sessions soon. I have quite a few ideas to mess around with, especially the flooding system!
