I remember seeing this (http://www.fray-game.com/) announced and thinking it might be a larf, but then heard nothing until a few minutes ago when I noticed it's been released on Steam (http://store.steampowered.com/app/210490/) to little fanfare. Is this a bad sign? Has anyone played it? Has anyone bought it? I crave details.

Do I see a future RPS league game? Looks like something I might be into. Surely someone here has played it and can share their views.

Also waiting for impressions on this one; Looks like the kind of game TotalBiscuit would take a look into, maybe he'll give us some proper gameplay footage with luck.

Cool. Didn't realise it had graduated from beta. Will patiently await some forum-goer opinions, or a WIT.

I'm hoping for something a bit necromunda-y. Disappointed by the seeming lack of single player though.

Just so that you're all aware... this game really hasn't come out of beta yet. There are TONS of issues with this game, because it was released early. I think it will be a great game eventually... but not yet. ;P

i too am disappointing by the lack of single player. real people scare me, and i like my frozen synapse-alikes with bots in them.

You should join our Frozen Synapse league, then. There's not a real person among us.

You're not thinking of Giant Bomb talking about Krater are you? Or is it just a coincidence that two betas have been released on Steam this week?

It's just a coincidence ;P Krater was pretty sad as well, though I think it will be a good game once it's done too!

Yeesh. I guess they usually give you 10% off in the first couple of weeks, but they really should make a big deal out of these things being Minecraft-esque "early adopter" discounts. If you go to the Steam store they just look like new releases, rather than (realistically) betas.

The Fray game website said something about it being a bit closer to a beta release, but you're right... Steam didn't say anything and people are really upset about it. Personally, I still think the game is going to be really good... you just got access to the beta. ;P

I think both companies ran into financial trouble and had to release early, to be honest.

I'm very interested in the game itself, but it's pretty steep. Am I being cheap? Or am I justified in thinking something like this should be about $10 to begin with? I'm probably being cheap. I guess if this is your favourite genre and whatnot, that price doesn't seem too bad. I just have no idea whether I'll like it.

I can confirm that ColOfNature is simply a spambot in (a rather poor) disguise. So come on in, the water's fine! You can't do worse than me, I didn't win a single game in season 9!

Right now looks totally unfinished. I wasn't able to play a single match during beta. Yesterday I started my first match. For 10 minutes it all worked ok. It started getting progressively slower to the point the UI was unresponsive and I had to shutdown process from task manager. I'm waiting for a response from devs but it seems they are still having serious issues with their server.

Unfinished, but looks promising. I have a second key to give to any of you guys, PM me if you are interested. But get ready for bug reporting and login problems.

EDIT : KEY GONE

RISE FROM THE PITS MY PRETTY!

Ahem, sorry for the necro.

So, apparently this game launched a few weeks ago on Steam, but it was something of a rocky launch... Anyone bought it? Anyone been playing it before and/or after the tweaks they just announced?

I'm still really interested in it as a prettier Frozen Synapse, but if it's a bit crap and/or it hasn't picked up any traction in regards to a multiplayer community then I guess I'll stick to FS.

Also, apparently it only runs on 64-bit OSes at the moment. Which will be fine for me once I'm back on my real laptop, but just mentioning it FYI.

I got half a game in before it crashed, and then they decided to give 32bit the bum's rush. No news for over a month, but hopefully that just means they're beavering away. I too have high hopes for this, but Frozen Synapse is still going strong. You should join us. Jooooin uussssss (http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/forums/showthread.php?5936-Frozen-Synapse-League-Season-12)! (New season each month, we normally play Extermination but we're doing Charge this time for a change, all skill levels welcome, you know you want to. :)

I played in one season a little while back, but I've been traveling with a netbook these past 9 months. Will likely get back into the League once I'm back in Australia (next week), depending on how completely other games take up my time.

For a multiplayer turn based strategy game I was more disappointed that there was no play by email then say lack of a sp campaign. The turns can be quite involving and time consuming, especially for newcomers. I understand the devs had no choice to release when they did as they were out of dough.
