ArenaNet have confirmed via twitter (https://twitter.com/GuildWars2/status/230717628174446592) that the head start will launch worldwide at midnight PST on the 25th - a 7am start for the UK!

That means a whole day of GW2 on Saturday, which is awesome.

However it does mean you're going to have to be an early riser if you want to make sure you grab those single-word names!

Oh that weekend... Friday's my birthday and I'll probably get smashed ... then at 8am IT starts. But hey, half-drunk, hung-over, sleepless, I will be there!

It's going to be 9AM here, which is pretty much perfect.

I guess the countdown in homepage (https://www.guildwars2.com/en/) is wrong then (right now it shows 12AM CEST / 11AM BST/WEST for the headstart).

Yeah it's currently bugged and showing 12 noon everywhere in the world :D

Screwie, I hope you have no trouble getting up early? You don't, right? I will buy you a coffee if you get up a bit earlier. You like coffee, don't you? You will like coffee, yes you will!

Haha I will be setting like a dozen alarms :)

Shall we meet in some specific place? I will start as an Asura, maybe we should go to Lion's Arch?

Well I imagine my first few hours will be running around in the asura zones. I imagine we'll have enough people for several groups on so if you want to party it'll work out :]

I think it'll actually be 8am UK time since we're on BST and Pacific is -7 if I recall correctly. So not quite so bad!

You know I'm going to be there at 6:30am regardless :P

Assuming we can all log in okay, the first 30-60 minutes of my headstart will be spent securing names quickly and then going back through character creation proper with at least one character. Then the rest of my morning's activities will be dictated by who and how many people are on Mumble yet.

If no one is around I'll just relax with some PvE, gathering and crafting.

Same, particularly in the vain hope that it unlocks early

Its going to be nice not feeling pressured into doing as much as possible as fast as possible, so I'm certainly going to create all my 8 chars before anything else. Then the guild then send out the first batch of invites then pull together all the gathering tools I need AND THEN start playing

You're welcome to join the 'hundred percenters' (aka Myself, Karl, John and Martin) who'll be systematically completing everything because we're all obsessive compulsive crazy people.

I'm not obsessive compulsive but completing stuff in GW2 was so much fun so far that I really want to do that.

In fact, there's too much to do and I don't know how to manage my time. Should I follow the story? Or maybe just wander without purpose looking for some interesting events? Completing everything sounds like a good idea. But what about PvP? What's better, WvW or sPvP? It's horrible!

Hey, will there be 8 character slots on release? I logged in for the first time yesterday and only saw 5. I'll probably create one char for each profession early, if they give you birthday presents later on as they did on GW1 then I'll get more shinies!

I think you'll get five like in beta, extra slots can be bought with gems.

Not sure if there's been any official word on the subject though.

I think it's probably safest to assume five is what we're getting, at this point. If that increases at launch it would be a happy surprise but I wouldn't count on it. Five slots is one for each race, so it holds some logic.

Dammit, I don't finish work until 9. Guess I'm gonna have to start picking backup names.

I much prefer to wander around and follow events than stick with and fill up renown hearts. The latter can drag on sometimes when there's no event around to double down on.

If you're talking about just touring all the skill points, waypoints, points of interest and vistas though, count me in! :D

If you're desperate for a particular name and don't mind privately sharing your login details, I can give it my best shot. No guarantees, but I intend to be logging in the second the servers come up. I'm already doing the same for Squirrelfanatic - if he ever decides on a name :)

I didn't care about names (as I usually pick "Aedrill" and some made up stuff for females) until now. Now I've got so many ideas I MUST be the first one to log in on 25th. Now excuse me, I'm going to play all the games with dumb QTE's to train LMB-spamming.

Cheers for the offer Screwie, but it's not a massive problem since I steal most of my names from lists on wikipedia :p
