View Full Version : Post Once Edit Twice

Ok, so I make a lot of edits. Maybe it's that I don't think before I post, maybe it's that I imagine that the more edits I make, the less I come across as having a stick up my ass, maybe it's that the sight of my own typos (not others' mind you) makes my eye twitch, whatever. Don't judge me, it's just how I am.

But here's the thing: in the comments, only every second edit actually registers. The first edit will go through, the next will invariably hang, the third will go through, and so on. To get around this problem I have adopted the practice of composing my edits in an edit box which I know to be non-functional, cancelling the edit, pressing the edit button again, selecting the unedited text which appears therein, deleting it, pasting in the aforementioned edited text, and saving. Needless to say, this is an inelegant solution.

If y'all could see your way clear to adding this oddity to the Big List of Stuff to be Fixed, I'd appreciate it. I mean, it's not just me, right?

... right?

P.S. I am so not editing this post.

Odd. Could be caching i guess, although I've not had any problems. Anyone else got this issue?

Testing; it's worked fine before, I think.

Edit One.

Edit Two.

Edit Three.

Works fine!

Rii, Maybe it's something to do with being in Aussieland and the distance from the where the RPS servers are based? Perhaps another antipodean could test for science also?

Hello. I would just like to confirm that the recent changes to the comment system, whatever they were, have entirely obviated this issue for me. Thanks a bunch. =)

Speaking of edits the other day I discovered that when you edit/delete a comment in google+ an email notification is sent to everyone you shared that comment with. The thing is they also get a notification of the unedited/undeleted comment.

So if you edit a lot like R2 you're giving everyone a deep analysis of the internal workings of your mind.

Huh, well there's another reason to avoid Google+, on top of the 'real names' thing.

I think Alex isnt really talking about the same thing here. I think the subject is the comments on the main page topics.

Yes I was referring to the comment system on the main page, not the forums here. But like I said, 'tis all fixed now. xD
