Figured we might compile a list with the crafters we've got to avoid overlap and shortages in the long run. I think as it is we already have quite a few armorsmiths and jewelers.
At the beginning I'd just list the names and their responding craftmanship as you drop them (character name and account name preferably), later I could add the skill-level (if necessary) or some other sort mechanic and we can use this thread for requests.
Someone (def. not me!) could even cook up some magic spreadsheet

I honestly don't think that a list like this is really necessary for GW2. You're free to pick up and drop professions pretty much any time you want to. And unlike pretty much every other MMO you keep the levels and recipes you've already earned if you switch back to a profession that you previously dropped(So dropping level 50 Cook and picking it up later puts you right back at level 50, with recipes intact). Or at least that's how I've been led to understand it to be.
Anyways, in case I'm wrong about how professions work, I'm working on Armorsmithing and Weaponsmithing. Character name - Toejam Fu (Unruly.9651)

I'd be happy to know who can I ask for better weapons, actually. I'm doing leatherworking and Jewelry, but my progress is slow.

My armour and jewelcrafting are fairly high.
Didn't take the weapon skills due to my warrior mainly using both rifle and axes/greatsword.
My necro will likely be rolling cook/tailor or artificer.
But yeah, chances are maxing all professions will be one of the things that keeps me occupied after level 80 :]

I'm working both artificer and cooking right now, which means I am always desperate for better bags (especially without the trading post up) - but fortunately I secured a supplier :P
I don't think it matters so much at the guild level what professions are covered, aside from highlighting anyone who is markedly ahead of the curve in a particular crafting profession and may be in a position to help others in the guild.
Also, how do people feel about creating a guild vault purely as a donation box for crafted consumables (and maybe other items, maybe even fine ingredients) that anyone in the guild can take from?
EDIT: Forgot to mention - my cooking and artificer are just past 75 now. And always happy to send random food items to people on request.

It's true but it's not like we're all going to be high level crafters soon or will level more than one or two jobs at the time being. This list might very well become obsolete but atm. I hope it could help creating a more even spread of initial professions.

You can put me down for cooking.
My cooking skills are pretty close to 75, but my biggest obstacle at this point is lack of materials. I need to do a full run of all the different renown heart karma vendors to replenish my '... in bulk' mats.
That said, if anyone would like to request a specific cooking item from the lower items and already has the required mats, feel free to mail them to me along with the name/quantity of the desired item. I'll craft and mail 'em right back.
My ingame character is Devotion
Would be cool if anyone could reciprocate for the larger capacity bags/boxes!
Cheers,

I shall be cranking out stuff via Tailoring & Jewelry (once I fire the game back up again tonight).
If people need bags, I'm happy to oblige although I can only do 8 slot bags at the moment.
Looking at the http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bag wiki entry, there are alternate bags available depending on discipline. For tailoring, it's the Craftsman's Bag, which is where looted crafting materials go first.
If people want bags crafting, drop me an message ingame & I'll get crafting but I'd appreciate it if the relevant materials were included in the request :)
Wolfenswan
28-08-2012, 12:22 PM
I can create simple 8 slot chests or special 8 slot boxes for either equipment (weapons/armor go there first) or safe boxes (stuff in there never appears in sale screen and isn't auto sorted via "compact"). For the latter I'd need 3 tiny scales / 3 small glittering dust though. In a couple of levels I can do the 10 slot stuff.
And a request: I'm looking for a weaponsmith to craft me either a level 25 or level 30 greatsword or sword. I can provide materials.

You know what we should do? Set up a Google docs spreadsheet where people could order jobs and crafters could take them. No hassles, just set your order, someone will take it up, no duplicate orders, then all is done with ingame mailing. Trust me, I'm a project manager. I can create it in 20 minutes including thinking about some neat stuff that might be useful.

please do. I can't set up anything above the most basic spreadsheet and managing a list in this godawful BB code editor the forum provides is even worse than I anticipated.
zanchito
28-08-2012, 12:46 PM
We can't do it in-forum, which would be the absoulte bestest thing (leaving the forum to do something forum-related isn't cool at all) because it'd require everyone to have edit permissions on the same thing. I'll create it later today when I'm back home, then you can link it in the original post. I don't think it's really worth it to create another one for internal trading because we'll probably have a guild donation box, which would cover about the same kind of thing.

I've got armorsmithing and jeweling both over 75 on Talla Shortfuse (Account name is Ritashi, don't recall the numbers atm). I can make level 25 jewelry and armor atm, although the types of armor I can make are slightly limited until I improve my armorsmithing (and level 30 quality should be upcoming soon). Fine crafting materials suck. :P Also, I'm more than happy to give away any of the excess gear I craft; whenever the guild system decides to work again I'll just ask in guild chat. And if you can provide me the fine materials, I'm more than happy to provide all the other ingredients for armorsmithing.

I've hit 100+ on artificing today which means I can make all sorts of minor potions against X which results in +5% damage bonus against species X and a +10% experience from kills bonus for 30 minutes. Check gw2db.com for what you need and send me the supplies (or parts thereof). Minor ones have +3% damage bonus but use lower level ingredients.

I'm levelling leatherworking and cookery on my main.
One question - The recipes that you can buy from vendors... are they discoverable? Or do you need to buy the recipe to craft them? I've been hoovering up all the karma vendor cooking recipes I can find, but I'm now wondering if I could have found these recipes just by combinations on the discovery tab. Anyone know?

Kredge Firehide - Leatherworking and Huntsman.
Account name is boyspud. Its quite a bit to level these 2 alongside each other atm, they both require a lot of the same fine crafting mats for discoveries. Still fairly low with both, but its still early days yet.

I'm quite sure they are not discoverable. I bought a few recipes which had easily obtainable materials and I'm sure I had tried that material combo before in the discovery panel.
Google brings out the same question in various forums and everyone seems say that those item recipes are only available through those vendors and cannot be discovered.

Leatherworking and Huntsman here, at lvls ~100 and ~50 respectively. My main's name is Anne Oryxia, I'm not in the guild yet, figured I'd wait until all the issues with guilds are sorted out before trying to do anything about that.

Karma recipes include the best gear you can get from a tier, and they are not discoverable. For the gear crafting professions, the Karma recipes allow you to make the components required for Rare (yellow) quality gear, which is the best quality I'm aware of short of Legendary. If you're crafting your own gear, use the Karma you would have spent on gear from Karma vendors to buy the recipes to make yourself Rare gear instead. Be warned that the Karma recipes tend to have markedly higher material costs than the lesser, default versions.

More of an aside, but there is a level above rare below legendary called exotic. Orange coloured. As I'm posting here tho, my char name is Swift Raven and can do armoursmithing and jewelry (armor stuff up to around lvl 60 and jewelry at around 50 i think). As most of the guild seems to be armourers and jewellers I won't expect to be inundated tho ^^

I didn't know that about the karma recipes either. I thought that everything was supposed to be discoverable.
Anyways, I've somewhat given up on weaponsmithing for the time being. Feeding two metal-requiring trades is a pain in the ass. I haven't dropped it, but it's sitting at level 48 while my armorsmithing is up in the 80's now.

I am bumping this, seeing as I have 400/400 artificing and tailoring now. So if you want level 80 exotic caster weapon (i.e. Staff) or exotic light armor then let me know. If you get the raw materials (i.e. ore and logs, or gossamer, plus ectos) I can craft it all for free. So you save the markup on trading post.
http://www.gw2db.com/recipes/artificer
So as an example a Beserker staff is: 54 x ancient wood logs, 30 x orichalcum ore, 5 x vials of powerful blood and 5 ectos.

Yesterday I burned up all my crafting materials to max the benefit of a 1-hour +50% exp for crafting bonus. I went through all the disciplines, and besides being wasteful and expensive (I spent about 30 silver and levelled 26-28), I realized the constraints on fine crafting materials severely limit any armor+weapon pairing of disciplines. What would be better is to stick to one weapon or armor type, and then take jewelry and/or chef as a secondary. Ideally you would also pair with someone to trade spare materials with.
This guide shows why (look at the pie charts): http://gaiscioch.com/tavern/guildwars_crafting/post_35198.html#part2
I wish I'd known this beforehand. Originally I had leather+weaponsmith, and I left weaponsmith in place but went back to leather at the end (oops, money down the drain).
