I remember playing a demo of this game many moons ago that had your character starting in a dingy flat that you couldn't escape from, except out the window (I think). There were two rooms, one with a tv and a filthy kitchen. First person perspective adventure/point and click style thingy, possibly set in a dystopian near future and possible kind of comedic? The demo ended when you left through the window... I'm not entirely sure what year it was from, but I remember it struck me as interesting...... hhmm..

Wait, that's the name? I thought you were saying it was your typical morning.

The description reminds me of a mostly-text-based browser game, which obviously isn't the one you're looking for, but now I'm trying to remember what that was called.

Hell yes! Now I remember Normality. Great game. I remember the control scheme being a bit fiddly though.

Yep. The game is Normality. I played it years ago. You had to keep switching channels on the TV by using a woodpecker toy thing on the remote control. I don't remember much beyond that bit.

Ah wow, yeah, that's the one! I'd say I was 14 when I played the demo... according to the wiki Violet Berlin from Bad Influence is in it and Corey Feldman voices the main character :)

They used the same engine for Realms of the Haunting as well didn't they? I played the demo of Normality but could never find the game in the shops. would love to play it again.
