Editing a save/.GAM file

So I hit a bug in Planescape: Torment that isn't going to make me reload or anything (I don't think, pretty certain it won't) but annoyed me quite a bit and I'd like to rectify it if I could.

To cut a long story short, there's a quest that if you speak to Man A and Man B in the wrong order then it borks the script and you can't get the quest item from Man C.

I did some googlin' and came up with a little guide for changing a PS:T file in UEdit but apparently got it wrong when trying to put the quest item in my inventory as I knackered the save file (had it backed up, obviously).

So I was just wondering if anybody knows of something that lets you edit these things in a fairly user-friendly way? Not the end of the world if I can't, and I can always try UEdit again, but if there was a good method for dealing with that sort of thing that'd be handy.

Either Infinity Explorer (http://infexp.sourceforge.net/) or Near Infinity (http://www.idi.ntnu.no/%7Ejoh/ni/download.html) should work for what you are after, although I can't recall which works better for inventory editing.

On a different note, definitely go through http://bootstrike.com/Torment/files.php if you do end up needing to restart - I don't know what if anything results in broken savegames, but it says prior saves probably won't work after.

Make sure (http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2008/05/29/planescape-landscapes/) you try the widescreen mod either way, if nothing else.

csuzw: I did come across that page at some point and tried some of them but either couldn't get them to do what I was after or they didn't seem to be geared at what I was trying.

Maralinga: Yeah, I looked at the Qwinns fixpack which I thought I had but it sounds like it fixes my problem and won't work with existing saves, so obviously I didn't. I'll try those two things you linked, they look like one of them should do the job.

I think the Near Infinity one might've worked but I couldn't figure it out how to edit stuff. managed to fix the problem using the "Infinity Engine Savegame Editor". Hoorah!
