Looks ok. I just feel like it brings nothing new to the table, which is a must for indie games nowadays. You should also do something about that english translation, it's pretty bad.

Translation will be new. But about ideas... i just wanna make an oldschool style platformer, not something with every new grapic effects, great physics and fresh ideas - just some oldschool!
But game is in beta stage now, it may be change...

You need better animations for your PC. And graphic design wise it's very uninspired.

So basically you spammed the forum so you could shamelessly plug your game. That doesn't inspire me much goodwill towards you.

And yes, I'm grumpy.

That's one i could do to show you my game, but that does not mean that i will stop posting here.

If you really don't want to make anything innovative in terms of gameplay o concept, you have to have awesome music, gameplay and visual style in order to be successful. If you lack any of that, there isn't much incentive to play the game, at least not enough to get me to do so.

A tip to make yourself seem less like an annoying spammer who is advertising the thing he made with the gamemaker tutorial and more like "one of us who just happens to have a game"

Don't make the majority of your post be ads and splash logos. It is bad enough people get forced to deal with that crap when playing professional games, there is no reason we should be blasted with that when a spammer with an indie game wants to advertise.

So you're saying the music, gameplay and graphic sucks?

I just want to make topic look nice. I think it's better than boring, long description of the game.

If there would be an option, that you can create new topics after registration, there would be no spam. But i think i wasn't spamming stupid posts like " OK ' " GOOD, IM FINE WITH THIS " - my english isn't just so awesome like yours. :)

Not really. They're alright. The music is the best part of it although it isn't that great. The gameplay is ok, although it's hard to guess without playing the game. The graphics lack any kind of character and seem rather uninspired. It's just more of the same old stuff, which I know is what you were trying to do, but I just don't find it interesting.

So maybe you will download beta and then post your opinion here? I only wanted to show more people what i'm making and i thought rock paper shotgun will be a nice site for it, but i only hear that i am spammer. :P
I don't say that you all need to wrote " THIS GAME IS THE BEST! " - criticism is good cause i know what change in game.
Graphic is uninspired? I don't know how well i understand that, but i wasn't inspired by anything - it's my own style of pixelart. I know, there are many similar graphic style, but that style is best for me. :)

I wasn't making this game with tutorials. :)
I also know, that Top Hat is not like Trine or something, i'm working on this alone, sometime friend will help me with code or something, i have a musician for it too. We are making this because of our passion, and maybe one day our dream will come true and we will sell our game.

I watched the video (I've no audio atm).

The game looks dull, I'll assume it's in a beta or alpha stage so I won't go into the animations, but it's got no style. It does look like it was made with a gamemaker tutorial. Unless you drastically overhaul the graphical style I don't see anything interesting.

Even if this was a kind of testing bed or proof of concept, the gameplay does nothing. There's nothing new. Look at the last few biggest hits in indie games. They all do one of two things (or both in most cases). They're extremely stylized and instantly become recognizable soon after, and they've a mechanic that they build the game around.

Your game play, as it is now, looks like it belongs back in the NES era.

By all means stick to your passion, but this does not look good at all.

Additionally, you went around the wrong way of advertising this by spamming the forums with one sentence replies to the minimum number of threads you needed to in order to make this one. As first impressions go you're not off to a good start on either front.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that you are making a game on your own and it doesn't look terrible, it just doesn't look great either. What I was trying to say was that most popular indie games nowadays have a certain personality, a certain charm to them. Either the characters are specially well designed, or they have a well written story, or there are unusual environments, level design or game mechanics that make the player feel more engaged when playing a game. Your game doesn't seem to have that, but as I said I'm judging just based on the video so it isn't completely fair. I will gladly give it a try when you finish it or if there is a beta.

As for the spamming, you have created a profile on this forum for the sole purpose of promoting your game, so it technically is spamming. If you had been a member for some time it wouldn't be that bad, even though auto-promotion posts aren't always appreciated by the community.

If you would just download beta, you would notice that game change from that what you see in movie. There are many animations, new sounds and other. The movie you're watching have ONE MONTH.
Game is in beta stage, i will do everything that i can to make it better.

EDIT:
but thanks for advice, i will animate all that i can in game :)

I feel like you need to get a proper 2d pixel art animator in the tam for this to really be a success. Whn compared to games released 20 years ago, the quality of the art and animation is really bad compared to for example:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sb_wLSV_Bvg

even when compared with NES era games, it doesn't really compete:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qor5Rn7glaU
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W93WEBoB9UY&feature=related

Yeah, get an animator! It seems like you can pull of the 2d engine if you get someone to help you with the art so you can concentrate on that.
Good luck!

Tried the demo. Got to "Dungeons 3-3". This is what I thought:

Like:
-the visual style.
-The controls are ok, although the jumping required too much precision

Why I didn't continue playing:
-You really need to sort out the English translation. Terrible dialog.
-Background and foreground elements aren't clearly differentiated (example: columns)
-Having to watch the whole introduction again when dying on the first stage 3 times
-Enemies with guns that don't shoot you.
-Unavoidable traps and enemies that are almost impossible to kill without recieveing damage
-The stairs are hard to climb on sometimes.
-Enemies that shoot you even when they are facing the other way

Overall, I feel the same I said before. It isn't horribly bad, but it isn't good either. Anyway, I hope you can solve some of the game's problems. It's still pretty great for a game made by only one person, and I hope you will learn from this experience to make better games in the future.

It's a short gameplay from stage 3 of the game. It's little bit slower because of fraps. As You can see many things changed from beta version ( music is original soundtrack! ).

Didn't like:
-Backtracking
-Too slow-paced

Liked:
-It looks more visually cohesive than before
-The platform-creating gun. It's nice to finally see some mildly original content added to the game.

Gameplay is slower because of fraps, i'm working on shitty laptop ;x
In game it's normal 60 fps.
Also, you don't need to go back in this level, you can do it if you want only for more coins.
